Anyone have any brilliant ideas of ways to be entertained for free?

A comment on the previous Blog entry...And my reply/rantings

"I have concluded that the happier you are the faster the time goes. So, here is the conundrum: Do you want to be happy or do you want time to slow down?" -Ruby Hardbottle

What kind of choice is that? But see my main problem seems to be that I don't want either really. I mean as previously mentioned in the blog I would like to get on with my life however I also wish I could live more in the moment. I am enjoying myself.

However to shift gears slightly I have a complaint. What is it with this town and everything closing at like 10:00. Stupid Longview and its hickness. My friends and I have become quite annoyed with this over the last week. As a result we have spent a lot of time at my house and even resulted to going to Shari's. So...Needless to say I will enjoy moving to the city where there is actually a night life. Hmph.

A Fairy Tale Generation...

Life goes by so fast. It almost doesn't seem right that time flies so fast. Although I must admit that I often complain about how slow my life is going...or rather how I wish I could just fast forward through the next 5 years. I guess we will never be happy with the amount of time we have no matter what speed it goes.

Part of me wants to slow down time so much that it is almost frozen. Part of me wants to be 18 forever. However, on the other hand I wouldn't mind fast forwarding to when I am married with at least one kid....

I think my problem is that I want to skip the difficulties. Why can't life just be easy?

You see I, being a girl, want my happily ever after. But I think that I often forget that in all the fairy tales their lives were never perfect. They had plenty of trials before the 'happily ever after'....Take Snow White for example. She didn't get her happily ever after until after she had basically died. Cinderella was no better than a slave before hers. Sleeping Beauty was sent away from her family and had to avoid spinning wheels before her happily ever after!

Anyway, I digress. But basically even though we are a generation that has grown up with the thought planted in our head that we all are princesses and that we all will get a happily ever after somehow we have forgotten that sometimes the trials help bring the joy...

Another week here and gone...

Well folks another week has come and gone. And what have I done for myself during this last week anyway...

I suppose I have gotten a lot accomplished, or at least enough accomplished. I did schedule my classes for Fall quarter at SPU. I am in the middle of cleaning out my room. I worked 3 days this week. I spent a couple days hang out with friends, which is always important...All in all it hasn't been a bad week I guess.

This summer is definitely going to go by too quickly. Oh well...

The week of the Musicals

This week has been full of musicals. I have watched "Fiddler on the Roof," "West Side Story," and "From Justin to Kelly" within the last 3 days. I must say that I thoroughly enjoy musicals. They are highly entertaining.

Here are a few others I remember fondly:
-The Sound of Music
-Chicago
-Singing in the Rain
-Grease
-7 Brides for 7 Brothers
-The King and I
-My Fair Lady
-The Music Man
-Annie
-Les Miserables
-Mary Poppins
-Meet Me in St. Louis
-Newsies
-White Christmas
-The Wizard of Oz

There is really nothing like a good musical. It is always fun to laugh at the fact that they all break into song. Plus we are all secretly jealous that the world doesn't really work that way. lol.

Blogging....

It has been a couple of days since I have bloged. I apologize. I would like to say that I have a grand excuse, but I think it mainly laziness. I was however gone most of Monday and Tuesday. I went up to Seattle to schedule my classes for SPU. For all that are curious I am going to be taking Financial Accounting, some history class, and Intro to Natural Science (or something like that). Yeah. It was highly exciting.

Tonight some of my peeps are coming over and hanging out. Andrea is back in town and that is exciting! Anyway, I will attempt to be a more faithful blogger. ttfn ~Laura

What a Day!

In anticipation of my last day at LCC and because I had a 'final' to be at early the next morning I set my alarm for what I thought to be 6:45 a.m. I then proceeded to read from my new Message Bible and also from the Harry Potter book I was attempting to finish before actually going to sleep. Which as it turns out I can do quite well...

This morning I woke up at 9:30 a.m. I realized that my alarm was set for 6:45 p.m. At which point I started to freak out. Technically I was supposed to be at LCC for my 'final' at 8:00 a.m. Which means that by the time I got there it would be over!! The only good news at that point was that it wasn't a final that I had to take a test in since I had already taken the test earlier that week. It was merely a 'final' time slot and was supposed to be attended by all students. So, I managed to get out the door probably about 5 minutes (if that) after I woke up! Go me! However, this meant that I barely had noticed what I had thrown on and had no time to make myself look all that great.

I arrived at the classroom 15 minutes before the class was supposed to be over to find that it was empty. How annoying. I then proceeded to the office of my instructor and spilled out my tail of woe to her. It turned out fine. She gave me back some papers and told me what my grade was. I was worried that I had lost points for not attending the 'final' but she said it didn't matter. So all is well.

I then proceeded to the ladies room to make myself presentable for my next final which was in 10 minutes. I arrived at class and spent the time before the test griping about teachers with some of my fellow classmates. We all seem to dislike a certain Excel teacher. Finally the time for my Office Procedures test arrived. I finished the test in about 30 minutes. I was pretty confident about my answers.

I arrived home at about 10:50. I then proceeded to take a shower. I was quite glad that I had time to actually breathe now since I didn't have anything going until 2:00. I then did a few chores and had a bit to eat. It is at this time that I probably should have reconsidered what I had chosen to wear for the day. However, since I was woken up so abruptly I don't think my brain was working quite right. Instead I spent a relaxing hour watching television and reading my Harry Potter book.

At 1:30 I left for the college. I wanted to be early for my graduation rehearsal. While walking toward the LCC Gym I at last looked down at what I was wearing. It wasn't that I looked bad, it is just not what I would have chosen to wear if I had been able to choose under normal circumstances. I was wearing jeans (which was fine), but for a top I had on a very old t-shirt that I normally wear to bed. Somehow it had gotten stuck in my closet instead and being as how I have another shirt that looks like it I can understand I guess why I put it on. However I was slightly mortified that it was what I had chosen to wear for the day. However, I figured that the show must go on and that there wasn't much I could do about it now. And in all truthfulness I don't think I looked that bad. Again, it is just not what I would have chosen if I hadn't been so rudely awakened...

And so I attended graduation rehearsal in my old t-shirt. While standing around waiting for the rehearsal to start I overheard some people talking about how they still needed some tickets. One lady was saying that she only needed 1 more. At this point I walked over and handed her the one ticket I had in my back pocket that I was going to return to the activities director after the rehearsal since I didn't need it. It was well received, but I think I kinda freaked her out...

Finally the rehearsal began. I listened to the head of whatever talk about how things would be run this evening. She told us who the teacher marshals were (Dugaw and Fontaine) and how they would be leading us into the gym this evening. She then told us that the Marshals would tell us when to stand and sit. At this point I was reminded of the game 'Simon Says.' You see we are to stand when the marshals say we should and sit only when the marshals say. I can just picture them playing the game: "The Marshal says to be seated," "The Marshal says to stand." And as a result if anyone messes up I think I will have a distinct urge to say, "Oops! The Marshal didn't say!"

After practicing going up on stage and making sure that the head of whatever could pronounce my name correctly I was free to go. I was given the all important 'card' before I left. The card had my name on it and I am supposed to give it to the head of whatever when I walk on stage tonight so that she can call my name out. I am supposed to hang onto this card and have it ready for tonight. That is very nerve racking. I have already thought I lost it. However, it is currently safely in my car. So, as long as I drive my car to the ceremony tonight I should be fine.

Anyway, so that had been my crazy day. And I still have the actual ceremony to go to! With the way this day is going I wouldn't be surprised if I tripped or something. Hopefully not...

Countdown to the Final Day at LCC!!

Well tomorrow is my last day of LCC. It is a relief to have that phase of my life done. LCC has been really great for me, it has allowed me to get an education and afford it! I am glad that I live in Washington and have gotten to take advantage of the Running Start Program. It has been a good 3 years...

Anyway...

Well I took my Accounting Final today. I was actually surprised that I came away feeling as well as I did. I thought for sure that I would do bad on it, but the teacher seemed to put mostly easy stuff on it. Which is good because I didn't really want to do bad. lol.

Tonight is another night of house-sitting. I must say that I am enjoying it and will feel slightly let down when it ends tomorrow. I enjoyed having a place all to myself and stuff. lol. The cable was nice as well. But I must say that there really is nothing all that grand on TV. Mildly entertaining as it is I can live without cable.

I would kinda like to do something this evening, but I am unsure if I can get my friends together. We'll see. ttfn. ~Laura

Another Posting from the Magnificent Laura! (hee hee)

I really don't have much to blog about today. It was a fairly normal day. I got up at 10 a.m. since I didn't have any classes to go to. I then proceeded to watch a little television (Country Music Channel and "Pimp my Ride") and I read some Harry Potter. After lunch I went to work which was great fun as always. lol. Later tonight I am going to a bible study barbecue.

Yesterday some friends and I went to Harry Potter 3. It is my second time seeing it in the theatres; I liked it just as much though. I enjoyed going again because I got a chance to discuss the Harry Potter series I have been reading, and that was fun. Then after the movie they came over to the house that I was house-sitting at. We watched the movie "Singing in the Rain" because some of the silly people hadn't seen it before. It was fun.

Anyway, that is all I have to say I think. Until Next time. ~Ferguson Out!

House-sitting!!

Well yesterday was my first day at house-sitting. It went pretty good. I am once again getting to tune into all my favorite cable channels! Yesterday I watched a little bit of "The Newlyweds" (Jessica Simpson's show) and a couple episodes of "Trading Spaces." I then tuned into the all important 'E!' channel. There I got to see"The Fabulous Life of Jennifer Lopez" and then this morning before Church I got to see "Relatively Famous." Both were highly educational. lol. It should be an entertaining week....

I don't want to grow up

Do you ever notice how things seem to change as you get older? Like how when you were young the time used to drag on forever. You would find yourself counting down the seconds until the event you were waiting for would happen. And now I keep trying to get the seconds to slow down so that the event I am waiting for won't happen so soon.

When you are young it is easy to imagine whole worlds. And now I often wish I could spend my days once again playing house and pretending my Barbies are real. I wish I had faith like a child who thinks anything is possible. Instead of being faced with the reality that not all dreams can come true. I wish I could worry about passing a spelling test instead of passing my accounting final.

When you are young you look to the future and see none of the hardships. Now I look to the future and I see...well...Annoying difficulties and a lot of hard work. I don't want to go through 2 more years of school, I don't want to have to go looking for a job, I don't want to have to worry about how my bills are going to be paid. I DON'T WANT TO GROW UP!!!!!!

Okay, I think I am done now....

Looking Back: Quotes from my 9th Grade Journal

Concerning School:
-I often think about what life will be like after I graduate from high school. I won't see any of my friends. That is sad.
-In Geography we are giving our report presentations. Today Jodi gave hers and she said something funny. She said something like this: "the major export for my country is crap...Oh wait that says carp..." Almost the whole class was snickering it was so funny.
-Mrs. ---- bugs me. She breathes really loud, so my friends and I call her Vader.

Concerning The Important Stuff:
-Justin Timberlake from Nsync got corn rows. Z100 was talking about it. I haven't seen a picture yet, but it can't be good.
-Tiger Woods won the U.S. Open today. Tiger Woods is so cool. It is weird because you don't usually think of a golfer as being cool, but he is.
-Next week on "The Practice" Bobby and Lindsay might elope! That would be cool. I hope they do.
-The season finale of "ER" was on tonight. It was good. Carter went to a drug rehab place. Very interesting.
-Today on TV, Ranger Walker and Miss Kayhill finally got married. It is about time! Good for them.

Concerning Friends:
-I printed off one Megan and Mine's conversation e-mails titled "How 'bout a new one!" It is 15 pages long! It is so funny. I can't wait to bring it to school tomorrow.
-Megan is coming over Friday to spend the night. She is going to help me download ICQ. That will be cool!
-Nothing much went on today. Our "Cory Story" is almost done. It is so cool. It is pretty well written in my opinion. It is fun writing it too.
-Today on "Nash Bridges" Evan died! That is so sad. Bethany won't like that much. I guess we should just remind ourselves it is only a TV show (lol).

Concerning Family:
-Grandma and Grandad got a male Jack Russell terrier. They are thinking of naming it either Freckles or Mark.
-We got an e-mail from Jonathan today. He is away on his Senior Trip. The keeper of the e-mails (me) replied...I love e-mail. I can still pick on him from hundreds of miles away. lol

Concerning My Obsession with the computer:
-I didn't check e-mail today. I didn't have time trying to balance homework, Teresa's b-day, and TV. It left no room for the computer today. So sad. Perhaps tomorrow.
-I got a new e-mail address today. Yippy! Now I have 3 1/3 e-mail addresses. The family Juno one, my yahoo one, my ICQ one,and the one I share for our webpage with Megan and Bethany.
-I chatted on ICQ tonight. That and Napster is what I do on the computer now-a-days. Oh yeah, and Juno of course, can't forget email!

6 class days and counting...

Not too many more days of classes left. I can almost taste the freedom. Today's classes were pretty dull. I find that has the quarter goes on I am less and less interested in what I am supposed to be learning. It really isn't a good thing because I still have to pay attention since I am gonna be tested and all, but I have no interest in what the teacher is saying. It is like the adults on the Peanuts cartoons. Sad really.

Other than that it was an okay day. Rather uneventful, but still nice. Tomorrow should be another typical day. Hopefully nothing life changing...

Ho Hum

Well today started out rather annoyingly, but it ended okay. I was so tired this morning. I just wanted to go back to sleep. I probably could have fallen asleep in my Business Communications class if I had allowed myself.

I worked today, which was kinda dull. I didn't get as much done as I wanted to. Oh well.
Tonight I did get to chat with my pen pal though! It was exciting because she is never online. We had a nice long chat and it was very enjoyable. It was great to get caught up. I wish we could see eachother, but life keeps getting in the way...oh well.

Ronald Reagan

I don't have a whole lot to say about today. It was an average day. I attended Kristen Karns' open house for graduation. I also rewatched the first 2 Harry Potter Films so that I am now fully prepared to watch the 3rd one. All this seems a bit trivial however...

In case you have not heard, Ronald Reagan died today at the age of 93. It isn't that I was particularly attached to him, but it seems like it should be noted. It wouldn't be very patriotic of me if I didn't at least recognize his death. He was President when I was born after all.

Anyway, kind of a sad note to end on, but maybe that is best...

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen

I must say that classes seem to be taking forever lately, especially on Tuesday and Thursday. Obviously it is drawing near to the end of the quarter. It is about time.

This evening after school and work I got together with some of my friends to watch movies at Jaeyeon's house. We watched "Perfect Murder" which is cool, but a bit freaky. Definitely a movie you want to watch with at least one other person. And on a lighter note we ended the evening with "Chasing Liberty" which I enjoyed much more on the second and a half time through. lol. It is cute.

Tomorrow we are going to watch movies again. Veronica and I have discovered that Jaeyeon has never seen a Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen movie, and we find this horrifying! Veronica and I feel a special bond with the Olsen twins since we kinda grew up with them always being there. We went to see their new film and enjoyed it. It was typical Olsen twin. We find it shocking that there are people out there who have never seen an Olsen twin movie, and don't even know really who they are. So, we are on a mission to remedy that. hee hee.

We are pathetic, but that is okay. -Ferguson Out!

It feels like a Monday

Well, it was back to school today. I was proud of myself though because I remembered to pick up something at school today that I thought for sure I would forget. Go me!

Today was seemed like a catch-up day at school. My teacher has been sick, so we are kinda behind in all of the classes. So, today we were deciding what the next 2 weeks would look like. It should be fine. I think. It is amazing that I only have 3 weeks left of school (including finals). Then Summer will be upon me.

I don't think I wanna get ahead of myself. I am still trying to work out this week. lol. Anyway, ttfn. ~Laura
