Sorry I dropped off the earth for a while....perhaps a survey will make you happy.

Stolen from Megan...who stole it from Janelle :)

WHEN YOU WERE A CHILD

1) What did you want to be when you grew up & why?
I went through phases. First I wanted to be an artist (as all children do) and then I thought being a teacher would be cool...but now I have grown up and realize what I want to do most of all is nothing. hee hee

2) Who was your favorite person to do things with (excluding your parents)?
Um...hard to say...my sister I guess, and the kids on my block

3) Did you love school or did you hate it? Why?
I liked school until like 5th or 6th grade and then it was kind of annoying. But it got better around 10th grade again.

4) Was your family close?
Yeah, we are/were a pretty close family

5) Did you think that being an adult would be cool?
Um....I think as kids we all want to be older and to be grown up, but now that I am I know better...

DREAMS

1) What was the last dream that you had about?
For some reason the only dreams I ever remember are the wierd ones which usually aren't worth sharing.

2) Does it hold any significant meaning to you?
No

3) Do you dream in color or black & white?
Oddly enough I can never recall...which makes me think it is in black and white...

4) What is the most frightening dream you ever had?
When I was a kid I would have a reoccuring dream that I was kidnapped and that somewhere along the way we stopped at a rest-stop and I went to the bathroom and a rat jumped out of the toilet at me!...At this point I would always wake up...What this mean I don't know.

5) Is there one dream that stays clear in your mind despite the fact it was more than a few years ago?
See previous question I guess. Usually I forget my dreams as the day goes on though. Which annoys me.

YOU WAKE UP ONE MORNING & YOU FIND THAT
1) You're the opposite sex.
Wow! Wouldn't that be weird. I am not sure what I would do...although I think that boys have things altogether too easy, so I would probably enjoy it.

2) You're someone famous. Who & why?
Hmmmm, Oprah...cause she is going to take over the world some day.

3) You're the King (Queen) of the World.
I thought I was that already....

4) You're no longer in Kansas (or this world) anymore. Where are you?
Well if I are not on this world I am obviously exploring the outer regions of Space. Meeting aliens and good looking men....going where no man (woman) has gone before...yada yada yada....

5) You have a clone standing next to you & it's going to work/school for you while you get to play hooky. What are you going to do today?
Wow. Tough choice again. I enjoy doing nothing, but I get bored...so I would probably seek out someone else to play hooky with. :)

SUMMER

1) What is your favorite summer activity?
Mostly nothing....Hanging with friends. Watching movies. Reading books....Camping with the family...Oh! And my birthday!

2) What was one great thing you did this summer?
Um....I went to my brother's wedding..

3) When you were a child, what was your favorite summer activity?
I liked playing with the kids on my block.

4) What has been your favorite summer vacation?
Probably the trip to California that our family took.

5) Summer goes well into September, but when do you feel like it is over?
I agree with Megan...When summer starts cause um...that is the right answer.

MUSIC

1) Who was your favorite band/musician when you were younger?
Um...When I was a kid I guess I really liked the Christian singer Carmen....you know, back when he was sorta popular...and I liked teh Newsboys...but as I got older I liked the boy-bands...but I was never realy a fanatic.

2) Why?
Um...Why not.

3) Are they still your favorite/one of your favorites?
I still like them...but they probably aren't my favorites.

HANDWRITING
1) What color ink pen do you like best?
Um...Blue

2) Do you prefer plain paper or paper with lines (notebook paper)?
I like lines cause otherwise I write crooked.

3) What's better books from the library, or reading online?
Library...I can't really read for too long online....

4) Which would you rather get, e-mail or snail mail?
I can't decide. I get excited when I get both. :)

5) Do you have a paper weight on your desk?
Not really....I just stick the paper under any old random thing.

KISSES

1) Do you remember your first kiss?
Why do these surveys always have these questions? Do they assume that everyone has been kissed? What is with that anyway?

2) How old were you when you had your first kiss?
hmph

3) Where did your first kiss occur?
double hmph

4) Where do you think is the most romantic place to exchange a kiss? (locations, not body parts) Hee hee....There are too many choices....I mean like if we wanted to be like over the top I could say...um the Eifle Tower...on New Year's Eve....while it is snowing...just after being proposed to. Does that work for you?

5) What type of kisser are you?
Practice makes perfect.

IN A MOVIE MADE ABOUT YOUR LIFE WHO WOULD PLAY

1) You?
Um...Jennifer Garner

2) Your love interest? Topher Grace

3) Your best friend?
Can I have more than one? Um...Kirsten Dunst, Julia Stiles, Alexis Bledel, Hilarie Burton, Mischa Barton, and...Amber Tamblyn. (I think I have enough friends now)...

4) Your enemy?
Um....I don't know....if it is a guy, Alan Rickman, because he makes a good creepy villian and such...and if it is a girl enemy I guess it would be Glen Close?....I guess...cause she can be evil I guess....I guess those are kinda 'older' enemies though and how they would fit in with the rest of the 'younger' cast I have no idea....but oh well....

I hate the need for money.....

Okay seriously people! What is with us? Several of the blogs I have read speak of the depressed writer...And sadly I think I will join them. How pathetic are we!?..We are a sad lot.

I haven't really blogged in the last few days because a) I have done practically nothing, and b) I find it hard to blog when I am feeling depressed. (Unlike some people I don't think I am good at being vague...and even if I were there are too many people reading my blog who would then feel the need to be concerned...Which isn't what I want when I blog...besides most of the time I would use the blogging as a source of venting my frustration, and then I would be done with it, while everyone else would be left wondering what was going on!) So.....Those are my excuses.

I am blogging today though because it was a busy day. I worked pretty much nonstop today. I got up and babysat from 8:20-12:15 and then I worked for Longview Surgical Group from like 1:00-4:00. And then I babysat again (for the same people) from 5:20-9:00. So, it has been a busy day. I would like to say that I am now rolling in money...but it is not true. Even with all that work I earned, well, practically nothing.

I have been feeling depressed over my money situation (as I am sure most college students are). I had thought that I would be able to work at Longview Surgical Group over Christmas break and earn the remainder of the money I would need for next quarter, but they don't actually have anything for me to do...so there goes that. It should be interesting to see how God provides.

I am not really blogging this so you all feel sorry for me...I am merely blogging this so that you know where I am at and um...because it is my blog and I can!!

I really do despise the need for money. No one seems to ever have enough, no matter what stage they are at. It is quite annoying. And it sucks.....

Feeling Uncreative

I never know where to begin with these posts. Sometimes I want to just jump right in, but I often feel like there should be a logical progression or a good intro or something...If nothing else there should be a catchy title. However, few of these things go as I have planned.

Today was a good day. We went to Grandma and Granddad’s for a visit. It was nice to be there again. I haven't been there since I left for school. I love going to their house too. It is always nice. :)

Tomorrow I am calling up Longview Surgical Group and attempting to figure out my work schedule. I am also gonna go walk the lake with my friends. I don't think that I have any plans for that evening...But hopefully that will change after I talk to my friends. :)

Anyway, I guess that is all for tonight. I will post again tomorrow. It is once again nice to be home.

P.S. I watched the Survivor Finale! I love that show....

Stupid Titles *grumble grumble*

It is sooo nice to be home. I have a lot to blog about. Sorry I have been negligent. Lets see...so I came home from school on Friday. It was kinda a scarey drive because of the rain, but it was okay I guess. I was driving another person to Longview as well, where she was gonna meet her parents and ride the rest of the way home. She was glad that I was doing so well in the rain. It wasn't too bad really, there was just one scarey part.

I got home at about 5ish. It was nice to have a home cooked meal and all. Then at like 7:30 I met my friends at Luigi's and we hung out. From there we headed to see "Ocean's Twelve." It was a good movie, slightly confusing...but I think the first one was at first too. I would recommend it....I need to write a review now...hmmm. Anyway...the movie got out at like Midnight-thirty and then we talked outside the theatre with an old high school friend (Joel Todd) until like 1. It was great.

Today Megan, Vern, Kristen, and I went down to Diane and Chris'. I really had a good time. We went shopping and then hung out at their apartment. It was nice and cozy. We played a cool movie trivia game and watched "Home Alone." Good times.

Lets see...the other thing I wanted to blog about is how much I love Longview. I really do. I know that I enjoy the activity of college life and being in the city, but I love Longview. I love the fact that our city goes crazy at Christmas time and puts up lights everywhere. I love that you can go to a movie at 10:00 at night and see like 20 people that you know! I love the circle (and always have). I love the lake, and walking around it. I love that most of my extended family is here. I love that all my friends are still around...basically. yes, life is good here.

Yeah, so I think that is all...So...yeah. Goodnight

No more school for me!....For at least 3 weeks....

Well I am done! I have finished my first quarter at SPU. Hard to believe I have been here that long. It has been a good quarter although these past few weeks haven't been so great academically...I mean they were just annoying. But they are done now. Hurray!

I am going home tomorrow after work. I have to be out of the dorms by 10:00, so I am leaving about 9:40ish and going to work. Then I am leaving work at about 2ish and heading home. Hopefully I will be back in time to hang out with my friends or something. That would be fun. There is talk of seeing a movie...

Tonight I am going to JonTon's house and watching TV with them as well as Dan and Joy. It should be fun. I am looking forward to it.

My roommate has left me. I am sitting in my dorm room all alone. It is actually quite clean, which is surprising. I haven't seen it look like this in a while. It is nice. Kinda weird though. I still need to kinda pack, and I don't know when I will do that...But it will all work out...

Anyway, I guess I will see most of you soon. ttfn. ~Laura

I'm almost free!

Well today was a pretty good day I guess. No major complaints. I took 2 of my finals today. I had my history one first and I think it went pretty well. I guess I have to wait until the 20th or so to really know though. And then I took my Accounting final....I think I did okay on this one, but I wasn't as confident. I don't think I am ever as confident though. So, we shall see...Tomorrow I have my Chemistry final at 8:00-10:00 a.m. I have a 2 study groups for it tonight so, we shall see. Obviously I don't really know how any of these things are going.

Today I spent $35 on 2 books that would have normally cost me $81.95 in the bookstore! I have a line on my Biology book for $22 (bookstore has it at $115), and I can get a $10 book for only $8 assuming the person writes me back. The teacher for my Christian Scripture class hasn't posted his book list or I could attempt to get those cheap too. I will have to buy my Bible Study book from the bookstore though cause it is a different subject every quarter. It is only like $12 though. So...Hurray for me!

Today Is The Tomorrow We Worried About Yesterday

That title is probably more applicable for tomorrow's post, but oh well. So today I got up at 8 with the intention of studying, but I didn't really study until about like 9:30ish. And then I studied from 10-1 with a break for lunch. And then I took a nap from 1ish-3ish. Yeah...Then I didn't do any studying until after dinner. And so I just studied for a half an hour and I think I am done for the day. I have 2 finals tomorrow. History and Accounting. However, they both are allowed to have a limited supply of notes. So, for my Accounting, which is over the final 2 chapters, I wrote down formulas and junk on a note card and I reworked all of the homework that was assigned from those chapters. So, I think I have studied enough for that one. And for History I am allowed to write notes on the study guide that the Professor gave us. And I did that, but the questions this time seem like I could fairly easily BS my way through them. So, I have my notes and I worked a little more on it after dinner...But I am not sure there is much more I can do. I figure I either know it or I don't. And tomorrow I am studying Chemistry. I am meeting with Kristen (JonTon's friend who is in my class) at 7:00 and then I am meeting with fellow people on my floor that are in the class to study at 8:30. And I have studied some already with the online practice quizzes. I really don't think I can do much more for that class either. I mean I have attended every single class (even the 2 I didn't have to go to!)and I have 5 extra credit points. So...There is pretty much nothing more I could have done. I am feeling more confident about it than I was over the weekend though...But I am still unsure. We shall see how it goes. Now here is another poem for your enjoyment:

Now I lay me down to study,
I pray the Lord I won't go nutty.
If I should fail to learn this junk,
I pray the Lord I will not flunk.
But if I do, don't pitty me at all,
Just lay my bones in the dorm hall.
Tell my prof I did my best,
Then pile my books upon my chest.
Now I lay me down to rest,
And pray I'll pass tomorrow's test.

A Poem

We and They
by Rudyard Kipling

Father and Mother, and Me,
Sister and Auntie say
All the people like us are We,
And every one else is They.
And They live over the sea,
While We live over the way,
But-would you believe it? -They look upon We
As only a sort of They!

We eat pork and beef
With cow-horn-handled knives.
They who gobble Their rice off a leaf,
Are horrified out of Their lives;
While they who live up a tree,
And feast on grubs and clay,
(Isn't it scandalous? ) look upon We
As a simply disgusting They!

We shoot birds with a gun.
They stick lions with spears.
Their full-dress is un-.
We dress up to Our ears.
They like Their friends for tea.
We like Our friends to stay;
And, after all that, They look upon We
As an utterly ignorant They!

We eat kitcheny food.
We have doors that latch.
They drink milk or blood,
Under an open thatch.
We have Doctors to fee.
They have Wizards to pay.
And (impudent heathen!) They look upon We
As a quite impossible They!

All good people agree,
And all good people say,
All nice people, like Us, are We
And every one else is They:
But if you cross over the sea,
Instead of over the way,
You may end by (think of it!) looking on We
As only a sort of They!

A semi-stressful, yet enjoyable weekend...

So, I went home this weekend. It was an interesting weekend. I left SPU at 9:15 p.m. on Friday after I had enjoyed some of the Tradition festivities. Tradition is an event put on here at SPU to celebrate the Christmas season. They have all sorts of fun things like face painting, a live nativity, a stage with a band, karioke, storytelling, and food, oh and Santa! JonTon and I had characture (is that the right word) drawn of us as a group. It is pretty funny. It is on long paper and so I will have to copy it at the library or something as opposed to using my nifty scanner/printer...Anyway, where was I? Oh yes, so I got home at about 11:30. So then I chatted briefly with my parents when I picked up my sister to go to the house I was house-sitting at (on Lilac). Teresa and I watched the cable television til about 12:30 and then went to bed.

On Saturday we woke up at 8:15 and got ready for the Walk and Knock. Grandpa picked us up at about 9ish and we headed out. We worked picking up bags of food for about 2 hours and then stopped off at McDonald's for lunch. I could tell by the fact that we only filled up Grandpa's car once (as opposed to last year when we made at least 2 trips) that we had gotten less food this year than last year, which was confirmed by the paper today. But still we had a lot of food. So....After McDonald's Teresa and I went to the CAP building and helped sort the cans. This process was more extensive this year than previous years. This year we actually sorted the cans into specific categories such as Greens beans, regular canned beans, mixed canned beans, etc. lol. This process drove me crazy because I am sure there was a more efficient way of doing it. Plus the lady running it was a bit overpowering and I really felt like hurting her...But I resisted.

Then I went home and dropped of Teresa. I chatted with my parents for about 2 minutes and then went back to Lilac to work on a stupid history paper. After finishing the paper to meet the page limit I was ready to head out with my friends to watch the Christmas parade. We enjoyed the parade and were standing next fairly interesting/amusing people. After the parade we decided to go to Pizza Hut. However, getting from where we were parked (outside of spaghetti Works) to Pizza Hut was quite the challenge. All the streets were closed because of the silly parade. We eventually got there though. We enjoyed the hot food since we were still rather cold from being outside. After Pizza Hut we went to the Christmas Carol play being put on at R.A. Long. I always enjoy watching plays and don't really get to see as many as I like so it was very enjoyable.

Following the play my friends and I parted ways and I went back to Lilac. Teresa came over to spend the night with me again. We stayed up until 1ish watching cable television. I love TV. We watched great shows like Trading Spaces and Boy Meets World, etc.

Anyway, that was pretty much my weekend. I went to church and then left for SPU today. And now I am here and I have put the final touches on my history paper and unpacked and am about to head to a birthday party for my PA (Peer Advisor). Fun, Fun!

It was a rather weird weekend because I didn't spend much time at home or with my parents at all. Sad...But I will be home next weekend for about a month so that will be good. However, tomorrow starts the week from hell, so if you think of me you can say a prayer because I will no doubt be really stressed. Stupid finals *grumble grumble*

Brady crushed our paper boat....

So, sorry I didn't get around to posting yesterday. Yesterday was a pretty good day. It was World Aids Day here at SPU and so we had the chance to give our money for the day that we spend on food here for like Gwinn and stuff to support Aids. So, I did that. I think that technically you were supposed to fast as well...But I just gave them my money and ate elsewhere...a lot of people did that. However, some participated in the fast, like Megan. :)

So, by the end of the day Megan was hungry, and so she/we decided to go out for food at like midnight. So we got a group of people from her dorm and we went to Denny's. Because I am sure that shoving down food at midnight is the best and healthiest way to break a fast. lol (okay she wasn't shoving food down...) We had a lot of fun though. The waiter we had was awesome. His name was Brady and he was pretty funny. It was great...

So today is kinda busy. I go to my class at 10:30 and then I do homework (I need to start my 5-8 page paper)...And then at 8:00 is bible study and at 9:00 is a mandatory floor meeting and a floor party after that. So...Busy, Busy, Busy. It should be good though. :)

I love television

Wow...I just got done watching the most intense One Tree Hill episode ever. They were able to pretty much leave every relationship on the show hanging! We were all screaming at the television...It was quite intense.

However, now that it is over I don't know what to do with myself. It is too early to go to bed and to late to do anything else. How annoying.

Anyway....I really have nothing of importance to say today (shocker I know...) but I felt the need to blog because I know how much people out there depend on my daily blog posts. People will check to see if I have updated...And be sad if I haven't...or at least that is how I feel whenever I check on other people's blogs.

Yeah, so enough babbling. Hope you had a good Tuesday. ~Laura

"Excuse me...Could you shut off the air so I can make a phone call?"

Okay, so I apologize for my long lapse from blogging. I have been enjoying my four day weekend...Which was very enjoyable. I ate entirely too much food, stayed up entirely too late, but it was really fun!

I got to hang out with my friends this weekend some. It is always enjoyable to get together with friends. I must say that I always enjoy it. Even if we do nothing. hee hee.

Okay...So now for a random thoughts:

-Why is it that at gas stations they put the pay phones by the air dispenser thing. Don't they know that makes an incredibly loud noise when someone uses the air? So...Anyone who wants to use the phone has to wait for the air to shut up...And vise versa. Does that strike anyone else as odd?

More Classic TV Memories.....

For all of you who are now thoroughly confused by yesterday's post. Here is some background...Salute Your Shorts was a television show on the cable channel Nickelodeon, which is why didn't watch it at home. :) It is among one of the great classic Nick shows, along with Hey Dude, The Legends of the Hidden Temple, Wild and Crazy kids, Doug, Rugrats, etc. What I wouldn't give to have Hey dude or Salute Your Shorts on DVD...Too bad that they don't make them...Sad. Anyway below are the lyrics to the theme song of Salute Your Shorts....Don't you want to go back to 1992 for a while....

We run. We jump. We swim and play. We row and go on trips.
But the things that last forever are our dear friendships.

Camp Anawanna, we hold you in our hearts.
And when we think about you (it makes me wanna fart)

It is I hope we never part. Now get it right or pay the price.

Now we will share a lifetime of the fondest memories.
By the lake of Anawanna Sat in the old pine trees.
Camp Anawa-, we hold you in our hearts.
And when we think ab- (this thing, it came apart)
Think Anawanna-wanna, speak Anawanna-wanna
Live Anawanna-wanna. Ug!

Obsession?

Okay so, Megan and I were talking and we are not sure this new thing is gonna be an obsession, but it is at least a temporary distraction. So, anyway, if you click on the link below you will get an idea of what I am talking about....It seems pretty cool, I am not sure what all I will do with it yet..but enjoy. :)

THIS IS MY SPACE!!! CLICK HERE!

~Laura

Obsessions are Cool

Sorry I didn't get around to posting yesterday. I usually wait until my day is over so that I can include everything exciting that has happened to me, but yesterday my day didn't get over until like 2:30 a.m. So...yeah.

So, where did I last leave off in this telling of my life? I believe it was Friday night. So...I was just about to cave into boredom and sit in the hallway twiddling my thumbs, when I get a call from JonTon saying they are downstairs and want to visit. They had been teaching swing dancing to the young married group at church. They said I should have gone...And I was like..."Yeah..Except I am not married!" So, they had leftover rice crispy treats which Tonia proceeded to hand out to everyone she walked by. However, by the time we made it back to my room we still had enough to be too much. But we finished them off anyway. We had wonderful discussions that I think sorta freaked my roommate out...It was great. So, they left like at 11:30 or something and it was good to hang out. Then I found some people who wished to do something, so we watched "The Count of Monte Cristo." I had never seen it before, and it was good. I recommend it for all of you who can never think of any movies to watch....Which would be like all of you.

Saturday I got up at 11:00 and got ready for the day. After lunch I went down to the study lounge with my laptop--which I still can't remember the name of, how depressing. And I wrote my paper for history. However, that is all the homework I got done yesterday because at 5:00 I went to the basketball game. It was girls basketball and we were playing George Fox (Kristen's school). It was really quite enjoyable, especially since we won like 73 to 41! Go falcons! Then we stayed for the guys game too, but they weren't playing George Fox. They were playing Chico State. That was a good game to, it was pretty close the whole time, but we won in the end. Woot Woot! After we got back to the dorm I was able to hang out with a few people I don't hang out with as much. It was fun. We watched "The Breakfast Club" and talked for quite a while. I had never seen "The Breakfast Club" in its entirety, so it was nice to have the whole picture. So I like I mentioned earlier I didn't get to bed until like 2:30 last night. But it was fun.

Today I plan to finish my homework and then head over to JonTon's to hang out...And do laundry, and probably watch the last two episodes in Alias season 3! Which is highly exciting to me. The girl down the hall hasn't really gotten into that season yet. But I am excited that I am getting more and more people addicted to it. It is a wonderful show.

I think it is wonderful how we pass on our obsessions to others. Megan always passes on her obsessions to me and then I usually attempt to pass them on to others. Like, take blogging for example...Megan gets a blog, then I get a blog, then I talk other people into getting blogs such as Kristen, Aunt Linda, Bonnie, etc. Then those people spread the obsession even more. Bonnie has basically all her friends blogging. It is so great. Megan has another obsession she is trying to get me started on, but I haven't had time this weekend to focus on it. However, when I get it all set up and all I am sure you will hear/see it.

Anyway, that is all for now. I hope you feel all caught up now. ~Laura

.."It's like you always want to be Anne, but you are really just Diana"...

It is Friday. Obvious statement I know...And yet it almost doesn't feel like a Friday. I mean it doesn't feel like it should be a Friday. However, I am glad that it is Friday. I am currently pretty bored. Nobody seems to be around to do anything exciting, and I don't feel like doing homework yet. Tomorrow is my day set aside to do homework. I hope to get it all done. There is talk of hanging out at JonTon's on Sunday. That could be exciting. I haven't been to Renton just to hang out in a while. I went last week, but I wasn't there very long we were just meeting up to come down to Longview...But I did have dinner there....How long do I have to stay in order for it to officially count? Who knows.

This weekend I have to write a short paper for History and work on an Accounting Project, and read a whole chemistry chapter. It should be a really exciting day tomorrow. However, I am pretty confident I can get it all done tomorrow. None of those things will take toolong. Which is good, because who wants to do homework...Not me.

I really hate it when I have nothing to do here. I mean at home I would just go watch TV or do something equally unproductive...But here I somehow feel like I should be doing something productive when I am doing nothing. Plus I don't have a television...I guess I could read....Somehow it just isn't the same though. It will be nice to be home for Christmas break. I am glad that I am not doing this college thing for 4 years. That would be depressing.

Anyway, I guess I should go. This blog has gotten long enough for one day. I am not sure what I am gonna go do with myself, but I guess I will find something....

"I'm Laura...I don't get excited."

I can't believe tomorrow is Friday! This week has gone by fast. It has been kinda a weird week too. I haven't had much due or anything, so I have been taking it easy. Which has been nice. I do have kinda a lot to do this weekend after all....well actually I don't think it will take me too long. I have to do things for all of my classes though. Oh well such is life. Next week will be really short so that will be nice. I will enjoy being home for Thanksgiving. I am leaving Wednesday evening for home...But I will probably get stuck in traffic which is depressing...Oh well. It will still be good.

11 more school days left in the quarter!!....and I registered for next quarter! Hurray!

Okay, so today was a pretty good day. I found out that I currently have a 94% in my chemistry class! Woot Woot! Which by the way is the second highest score in the class. This has me super excited since I still feel like I have no comprehension of what is going on in that class. Howevever, we still have like half the points still to come in the class, which means that I could still do semi-bad. However with the strong basis I have built up I feel I can still do okay. lol.

So, today I went to work and got paid for doing basically nothing since most of my day was taken up with orientation! Fun stuff....

It looks like my I will actually have a free weekend this week because it turns out my friends aren't coming up to visit me. (sorry Teresa)...this makes me both sad and happy. I am sad because I really would have liked to see my friends and stuff...but I am also happy because I have been complaining almost all quarter that all my weekends were/are taken up...but now I have a free weekend! The question is...what do I do with it?

Printing Envelopes Is Sooo Annoying!

Yeah...so today is Monday. Wow. The good news is that there is only 12 more school days left in the quarter! Woot Woot! Much excitement....

I don't really have anything to blog about, but I thought I should blog...because it is what I do....

Today I worked and it actually went by rather quickly...Friday seemed really slow to me. On Wednesday I have work but it is like all orientation, so that should be interesting. I am sorta looking forward to it.

Tonight I don't really have anything going...I need to do homework, but I don't have bible study tonight which means that I have more time to do it....I will probably watch the O.C. episode that I didn't get to watch last week. That will be exciting...

Yeah...so...that is all....

I am sure I could be doing something now...

Here I am back at college. It was a good weekend. I was able to see all my family and a good percentage of my friends all in one weekend! Go me! It is always nice to see those you love.

I am quite certain I could find something productive to be doing. However, I doubt I will go through the effort. I did 'read' my chemistry chapter today though...And sorta answered the questions (I will work on those tomorrow with a couple other people)...I have many things I could be doing though...But I don't feel like doing any of them.

So, I found out that I didn't pass my math proficiency test (surprise, surprise!) and so I will have to take a dumb math class or something. Oh well, math never was my strong suit...What my strong suit is I have no idea...

So, tomorrow it is back to classes. Exciting stuff. lol. I am really quite ready for Christmas vacation. Only like 4 more weeks though. And when you figure that in terms of my weekend schedules it is really not so bad. hee hee. You see this weekend it is possible that my sister and Veronica will come up, then the next weekend is Thanksgiving, then the next weekend I come home for walk-and-knock, and then it is finals week....And then I come home!! Hurray for the quarter being over!

Anyway, I think I am done depressing myself..I guess I will go find something undepressing to do...

Pictures!

I have updated pictures on my 'college' picture page. Take a look if you so desire....

Slumber Parties are Fun!

So, because of our lack of classes tomorrow due to Veteran's Day, Megan and I had a slumber party! Which is why I am still up at 2:30 in the morning. :) We watched many episodes of "Sports Night" which is a great show that was on in 1998 and is now out on DVD. Hurray! And we went on a late night run to Taco Bell/Pizza Hut (they are combined...Like KFC and AMW)....So tomorrow we are planning to sleep in....And perhaps watch more "Sports Night" before we cave in to the real world and commit ourselves to homework...yeah right. Right...So to bed I got. It has been a good day....

Another Day in Laura Land

Today was a pretty easy day. I went to my two classes and was really tired. However, after lunch I was feeling much more awake. I took my laptop downstairs to the study lounge and wrote my paper that is due tomorrow. It is nice having a laptop. It almost makes writing a paper more fun. lol.

In a half and hour I am watching Gilmore Girls and One Tree Hill. A good percentage of the floor all crams into Ann's, our PA, room. It is great fun. It is always good to socialize while watching TV. lol.

Tomorrow I am going to my 2 classes...And then I have a math proficiency test to take. Oh joy. Hopefully I will pass it so that I don't have to take a stupid math class. The practice tests seemed pretty easy, so we will see. I hope I do well. The good news is that I don't work tomorrow so I might get something accomplished. lol.
I have 2 letters I need to mail that have been sitting on my desk...I am too lazy to go down to the mail box and mail it. lol.

Tomorrow Megan and I are having a slumber party. lol. We don't have classes on Thursday and I have a spare bed so Megan is coming to spend the night. lol. We are odd...But it should be fun. :)

Anyway, that is all for now. Peace Out. ~Laura

Hurray for Curves!

So I got my chemistry test back today. The bad news is that I got a 36.5 out of 50...The good news is that the highest grade in the class was a 37....Meaning that I got 100% on my chemistry test because of the curve! Hurray!!

Jeff and I at Jet City Improv Posted by Hello

Roomies!!

Okay, so last night was Fall 2004 Roomies! lol. For all who are slightly confused about what roomies are here is a semi-brief description. Basically your roommate sets you up on a blind date and then you go as a floor with your dates to some cool event. Some people go swing dancing, some go to Sonic's games, etc. We went to Jet City Improve...It is a live version of the show "Who's Line Is It Anyway." Yeah, but my roommate wasn't going because she has a boyfriend. So I didn't have to hook her up with anyone. hee hee. She attempted to hook me up with this one guy that was in my History class, but he had to work, so a girl down the hall hooked me up with someone in her bible study. His name was Jeff. He is a freshman and he lives in Emerson.

So, I drove over to Jet City Improve with my date and another 'couple.' The actual show was really funny and I recommend the place to anyone and everyone. After the show we came back to Moyer and had ice cream and hung out for a bit. Little by little the dates left and soon we went back up to our floor.

I had a really good time. My date was nice and all. He isn't really the type I would pursue for a long relationship though. But that is cool. At least I can add to the list of guys that I kinda know. lol. It was kinda hard going on a 'date' with someone you didn't know because you have to think of things to say. Luckily most of the time we were watching a show and didn't' have to talk. I didn't feel like it was too awkward, which is good...But it was still sorta hard to think of topics...Plus I am not really a talker so...But it was good.

I stayed up entirely too late last night. I didn't get in bed until like 2:30. However, I slept in until 11 so it is all swell. Today I need to work on my homework, but I will most likely wait until after lunch. We shall see. Below is a picture of me and my 'date.' More pictures to come. :) Enjoy. ~Laura

Deborah and I

Below is a pictures of Deborah and I with the Troll. We had a great time and I thought I would just share a picture. I will probably post again later today detailing my roomies event. At which time I will explain the whole roomies thing and hopefully include more pictures (we shall see). Anyway, enjoy. ~Laura

I'm Free!!!!

Hurray it is Friday! I survived the week...Barely. I think I did alright on my chemistry and Accounting tests...But I am not sure. I got my History test back (FINALLY!). I did good on that, which made me happy. I am now putting off any studying until like tomorrow. lol.

Tonight Deborah is coming over and we will hang out. She is just spending the night and then leaving at 4ish tomorrow...Which should be cool. Now we just need to figure out a way to Teresa up here sometime...But yeah.

Tomorrow night is Roomies! I now have a date which is good. As of Wednesday I didn't have one...Our PA still doesn't have one. Everyone is busy...But she will get one. I don't know who my date is but those who do say they are slightly jealous...Which makes me feel good....And a little nervous. lol. It should be fun. We are going to Jet City Improve, which I am really looking forward to.

Anyway, time to get ready for Deborah and stuff. I am SOOOOOO glad that it is a weekend now! Hurray!!

Killing Me Softly....

Here are the lyrics to the song "Killing Me Softly With His Song." For some reason the chorus of this has been in my head for the past day or two. I know it from the movie "About a Boy." I am sure that no one cares to actually read the lyrics (expcept maybe Megan because she likes that movie too) but here they are anyway...

Killing Me Softly With His Song
( Roberta Flack )

Strumming my pain with his fingers,
Singing my life with his words,
Killing me softly with his song,
Killing me softly with his song,
Telling my whole life with his words,
Killing me softly with his song ...

I heard he sang a good song, I heard he had a style.
And so I came to see him to listen for a while.
And there he was this young boy, a stranger to my eyes.

Strumming my pain with his fingers,
Singing my life with his words,
Killing me softly with his song,
Killing me softly with his song,
Telling my whole life with his words,
Killing me softly with his song ...

I felt all flushed with fever, embarrassed by the crowd,
I felt he found my letters and read each one out loud.
I prayed that he would finish but he just kept right on ...

Strumming my pain with his fingers,
Singing my life with his words,
Killing me softly with his song,
Killing me softly with his song,
Telling my whole life with his words,
Killing me softly with his song ...

He sang as if he knew me in all my dark despair.
And then he looked right through me as if I wasn't there.
But he just came to singing, singing clear and strong.

Strumming my pain with his fingers,
Singing my life with his words,
Killing me softly with his song,
Killing me softly with his song,
Telling my whole life with his words,
Killing me softly with his song ...

He was strumming, oh, he was singing my song.
Killing me softly with his song,
Killing me softly with his song,
Telling my whole life with his words,
Killing me softly with his song ...
With his song ...

Someone put me out of my misery

I had a really fascinating blog that I attempted to publish earlier today, however Blogger ate it. I will attempt to recreate some of it, but I make no promises.

In response to Diane's comment about the election and because it was on my earlier attempted blog I will tell you what went on Tuesday Night. So I was attempting to study in my room at 10 p.m. when I heard loud commotion from my neighbors room. Then from farther down the hall I hear booing. At this point I figure that my studying is over for the night. So I gave up and joined the 'Bush Room' next door. It was kinda funny because whenever something went in Bush's way the girls down the hall would boo and we would cheer, and vise versa. I found it amusing. So I watched the election coverage until 11:30 and then went back to my room and got ready for bed.

Today I went to my classes, and went to work, and studied a lot...And then I went on a Raid. We raided 3rd Hill. We went down and played football. Everyone seemed to have a good time. I actually got into it...I think that I was blowing off all my stress from this week.

Tomorrow I have a test in Accounting that I feel ill prepared for. Then I have meeting with my Academic Advisor to schedule my classes for next quarter (which I have had NO time to think about). Then I will be studying for my chemistry test (which will be slightly more complex because I lent my book to someone and the didn't return it...However I don't think I would have used my book much to study anyway...I have my notes and there are online resources...I might try to borrow Ashley's book though...We shall see)...And I have to right a 2-3 page paper summarizing these documents we had to read for history (which I am not done reading). Soooo....If anyone feels like kidnapping me and taking me away to a nice happy place now would be the time...or maybe I could just pray that the world would end....Hmmmm....

And the business continues...

Today was a pretty good day. I didn't work, which is one good thing I guess. I had classes until 12:30 and then I ate lunch and awaited the arrival of Tonia. She came over for the afternoon to escape the land of Renton. It was nice to get to hang out with her. We looked at rabbits online because JonTon is thinking of getting one. It would be fun for them to I think, because then I could go over and play with it. lol. As if I need another reason to be at their house; as if laundry and Alias aren't enough. lol. Tonia and I also made our way around campus a bit, we stopped at the C-Store and at Falcon's Landing. We got an ice cream bar. It was really good. One could say it was too cold and wet for ice cream, but I disagree. Once we were done eating our ice cream we watched the movie 'Almost Famous.' That is a very interesting movie. I guess I liked it...I mean I didn't hate it, but it was kinda odd. Worth watching I guess....

After that Tonia went home and I went to dinner. After dinner I did homework and laundry for about an hour and a half. At which time I took a break and watched 'Gilmore Girls.' I am not however watching 'One Tree Hill.' Instead I am going to finish blogging and then continue doing homework. Ugh. So, that has been my day. Tomorrow I work and get to do homework some more. Fun, Fun. Aw, the joys of college life....

Back from Retreat!

I am back alive and well from retreat. It was a pretty fun. I will try to run through what we did.

We arrived on Friday evening about 7:30-8ish and settled in. We had people coming at a lot of different times throughout the evening depending on what their schedule was like. But we played a lot of games that they had such as ping-pong, air hockey, fuze ball, and carpet ball. All of which are fun. Then when basically everyone had arrived we split up into our color groups (mine was green) and played some get to know you type of games. Since it was the whole hall and not just my floor there were people that I didn't really know especially from 3rd. Then we went back to playing random games (free time). After this we had a small bonfire, which was pretty fun. Then it was back to the cabin. We a good time of game playing. I ended up staying up until 3 a.m. playing the game Cranium with some people. That is a pretty fun game.

On Saturday we woke up at 9:30 and proceeded to get ready for the day. After a bagel breakfast we had a short little meeting. Then we had free time until lunch. After lunch we had the opportunity to go boating or rock wall climbing (I did neither...I took a nap). And then at 3:00 we played bucket ball. This game consists of trying to get a ball into your team's bucket without getting killed. It is a game with no rules. It was slightly scary, so I didn't participate fully. It was fun though. Then we had free time until dinner. After dinner we had floor time. Our floor got together and played a few games. Then we had a bonfire. It was fun. We sang songs and had marshmallows. Good times. After the bonfire we played capture the flag. However, we only had about 20 minutes to play because then we had to be in our cabin. And the game ended by someone in a weird mask who wasn't even playing stealing our flag. It was kinda odd. But I didn't really care. lol. Then it was back in time for more hanging out. We watched a couple of random movies and just hung around. I went to bed at about 1ish.

Today We woke up at about 9:30ish and had breakfast. Then we had a good time of worship and devotions. After which, we packed up and cleaned up. We then took a group picture and headed home. It was good. I followed our PA (Peer Advisor) back to Seattle because I was afraid I would get lost. hee hee. Once back at SPU I ate lunch with Michelle Ward and then devoted myself to homework (even though I would have rather watched Alias with the PA). I spent 3 hrs in the study lounge doing homework, but got it accomplished before church which is good. I just got back from attending church with JonTon. We went to dinner at Denny's. It was good to hang out with them. I hadn't seen them in a while. They said they really enjoyed hanging out with Grandma and Aunt Linda yesterday. I am glad it all worked out. Anyway, I am going to attempt to see if anything exciting is going on on the floor. ~Laura
P.S. To clear up any concern, I am really not all that depressed. It may have seemed that way at the beginning of the week, but things are going better now. No worries. :)

A Productive Day

This was my least busy day of the week, and yet I did a lot. I had put everything off until today figuring that because I didn't work and because I only had one class today I would have lots of time to do stuff. hee hee It all worked out though. Below is a list of everything I did today...Because I know you all care soooo much.

10:30-12:50 Accounting Class
12:50-1:30 Lunch
1:45-2:15 English Proficiency Test
2:15-3:00 Ran Errands (Checked oil, mailed ballot, etc.)
3:00-5:00 Homework (Read Chemistry for Chemistry--ugh)
5:00-5:30 Dinner
5:45-8:30 More Homework--with a few short distractions (Chemistry questions & History)
9:00-10:00 Bible Study
10:00-Sleep Hung Out

As you can see it was a full day of a lot of little things. I am feeling slightly less annoyed with chemistry, but I am sure it will return...I worked with a few other Moyerites who are in my class to answer the questions at the end of the chapter and I actually had more than I thought correct, which was encouraging. I am sure it will all work out. It isn't like I am doing bad in the class, I just feel like I am doing bad in the class. So, it is all in my head I think. Anyway it will be over in a relatively short amount of time.

Tomorrow we leave for the retreat. So, I probably won't get a chance to post until Sunday or Monday. I know this is highly disappointing for you all, but somehow you will have to cope.
Much Love,
Laura

I am annoyed

I am feeling slightly depressed lately. I am really tired of school and junk. I don't want to go to chemistry class, or read chemistry, or even speak the word!! I also am just feeling overwhelmed. Which doesn't really make any sense because it isn't like I have any projects/reports due or anything. It is just a bunch of little stuff I guess. It doesn't helped that somehow I have managed to plan something for every weekend til the end of the quarter! Why did I do that? I mean I will enjoy it all, but at the same time it would be nice to have a weekend when I did nothing. Grr and Double Grr.
~Annoyed.

Woot! Woot!

I am always starting these blogs with the word 'well'. I find this highly annoying and am attempting to stop this habit. However, I often have no better way to start them. How annoying.

Anyway, (I use that word a lot too) today was a pretty good day. I went to my two classes--Chemistry and Accounting. Oh Joy. Then I ate lunch and went to work. I didn't feel completely competent and work today, but I think things went okay. Tomorrow I work again and that should be interesting. I will be glad when I don't feel so 'new'.

I went down to the study lounge to study today. I hadn't ever been there before. It was kinda nice. I think I will go down there more often. There are less distractions and I study more because that is my sole purpose for being there. I was studying for a History test I have tomorrow. I am hoping that it goes well. It is an essay test, but we can have notes...Anyway, we will see how it goes.

This weekend is the Moyer Hall Retreat. That should be fun. I am currently trying to figure out how I will balance everything. I do work on Friday but will be back in time to leave for the retreat with everyone else. I am driving, which should be interesting. I think I am cramming 5 people (including me) and all our stuff into my Jimmy. Fun, fun. However, I am still looking forward to it. Then I have to figure out when I am doing laundry this weekend...And also when I am doing homework. It should be very interesting.

Yeah, so I think that is all for now. ~Laura
P.S. *Kristen, did you like my title?*

I think I feel ill....

Today I felt rather ill when I got up. As a result I decided to go back to bed and skip my first class. I set my alarm for my second class and decided I would see how I felt then. When it went off I got up and decided I would go to my second class even though I didn't feel 100%. After my second class I ate a bit of lunch and came back to my room. I called into work and told them I wasn't going to be coming in today. I am feeling better now, and hope to stay that way. I hate being sick.

I did get a lot of homework accomplished though. I like it when I feel like I have accomplished something. It is always better than feeling overloaded and stressed out. hee hee.

Anyway, I guess I will continue being productive for a while longer. Tonight I have a bible study to go to. ttfn. ~Laura

Back at SPU!!

Here I am back at SPU. I must say it was quite an eventful trip home. I was slowed by two accidents on the way back here. The first one was 22 miles before Olympia and involved 3-4 cars. However, it didn't look like too bad of one and everyone seemed okay. But it did slow things down to almost a standstill for like 20-30 minutes. The second accident was closer to Seattle and involved 2-3 cars. However it didn't take as long to get by. Other points of interest on the trip back:
-I saw a rainbow. (Hurray for Rainbows!)
-I saw a semitruck that was hauling ladders. I found that odd just because you don't really think of how ladders are shipped....But it was pretty interesting looking.

I think that is pretty much it concerning my eventful trip. I should probably attempt to do my homework now....or I could put it off for a bit longer...I wonder where I put my 'Guess Who' game....

Awww...Home Sweet Home.

Well I am at home now...doing home type things. It is nice to be home.

I went to the dentist this afternoon and he fixed my teeth! So all of you who were hoping to see me with broken teeth...too bad! And for all of you who are at SPU and have seen my broken teeth, well they are not broken anymore! Hurray!

Tomorrow is a full day of errand running. Well that and spending quality time with family and friends. I am looking forward to that part emensly. Anyway, I am going to go wath "Joan of Arcadia" now. ttfn.

Raids!.....And Reality...

Hey guys!
The raid went really well last night. I am on the raid committee so it was nice to see it go off so well. We (2nd Moyer) raided our brother floor (1st Moyer). Just before floor hours we ran downstairs and rushed through their floor banging on their doors and screaming "RAID!!!!" It was great fun. Then we all went outside to play link-up tag. This game requires you to find a partner. Then you have 1 person that is it and one person that is looking for a partner. So the person looking for a partner basically runs around stealing other people's partners and then when your partner gets stolen you have to go 'link-up' with someone else's partner before you get tagged by the person that it is. Hopefully that made sense to you all. After that game we came inside and played 2 more games in the 1.5 lounge (the lounge between floors 1 and 2). We played "Honey If You Love Me" and "Wink 'em". Both are fun games but for a full description you will have to ask me another time. So I was excited that our first raid went so well. Now we just have to decide what to do next...hmmm...

Anyway, back to the real world. Today I have one class and then I go off to work. I will have to eat a somewhat rushed lunch before I leave, but I will survive. Then when I come back I need to do some homework. Fun, fun. Then at 9:00 there is a bible study that counts for my chapel credits I think...Then at 10:00 is ER! hee hee. Anyway, I should probably get ready for my class or something. I get to come home tomorrow! ~Laura

A Full Day...

Well even though I don't have my normal classes it is probably a busier day. I am normally done with classes by 10:30 on Wednesdays, but I won't be done with seminars until like 4ish. The theme for this "Day of Common Learning" is reconciliation. So went to the main seminar at 10:00 and that was good but the major speaker wasn't there because of plane trouble...So they made another special seminar just for him at 3:00....Then I am going to another seminar at 1:00. So yeah, it is kinda busy.

More later....

Yeah, okay so it is later. (I saved it as a draft and now I am back to finish it)... I drove Michelle (she went to Cornerstone) and her friend to Northgate today. They had to buy black shirts. Michelle really is a crack up. It was a lot of fun.

Later tonight I am going to group. There is supposed to be a gospel choir performing. It should be good. And then still later tonight we are raiding our brother floor. Hurray for raids! Yeah, so that is all...
~Laura

I am not doing any homework today...hee hee

Well today was a pretty easy day....as predicted. I went to my classes which were quite dull. My accounting class got out early which is always nice. So, I went to lunch and then got ready for work. I worked from 1-5 today. I was going to work tomorrow to but there are things at SPU that I need to attend so that isn't going to work. I can't say I am that disappointed. There is talk of going to see a movie tonight, but I am not sure if I will go or not. We'll see. I don't have normal classes tomorrow because there is a special like seminar thing going on. It should be good. Anyway, that is all for now. ~bye~

Wednesday:
No normal classes...Instead we are doing some common learning thing that I haven't figured out quite yet. Possibly working...Homework, group...

Friday:
Chemistry, Accounting, Coming Home...

Anyway, written out like that it doesn't seem so short but I only have my chemistry class 3 times this week as opposed to 4 and in my accounting class on Tuesday it is just like a group work day so we might get out early and stuff...Which actually makes it seem like I will have it pretty easy...But we will see.

For those who are wondering I ended up getting a B- on my Chemistry test. Which has me pretty relieved. I sorta figured after I took the test that I would get a B so yeah...

Anyway, I am gonna take a nap now before Bonnie comes back from her classes and we go to Lunch. Awwww...Sleep.

Another lame title....

Well today is Sunday. The weekend is basically over. I had a good time at JonTon's. We are almost done with the 3rd season of Alias. Only 4 more episodes to go! Excitingness! They had their open house yesterday so a lot of their friends were over and stuff. It was fun. We played poker at the end which was entertaining.

Today is my homework day since I didn't work on it earlier this weekend. I really don't have that much to do though. It is mostly just reading. Which always makes me want to sleep.

I can't believe how fast the weeks seem to be flying by. Won't be long now until the quarter is over. lol. Okay so there is still a bit of time before that. :)

It is raining really hard outside. I have to walk to Gwinn for lunch...Joy. Anyway, I guess that is all for now. ttfn. ~Laura

Since I am sure you are all wondering....

So, I took my chemistry test today. I actually think I did okay. Shockingly enough. We shall see, but I came away from it feeling somewhat good about myself...Which I guess is a good sign.

I don't really have much else to say but wanted to post that so that you will all be informed. lol. I am now officially done with my classes for the week. Hurray! So...I think I will take a nap and then head off to JonTon's. ttfn! ~Laura

Chemistry? What Chemistry!?

Anyway so I am currently pretending that my chemistry doesn't exist. So...sssshhh! I just got back from a fashion show put on by the 6th Hill Boys. It was very entertaining...Girls only if ya know what I mean. *wink wink*...Ha ha. Get your mind out of the gutter! Did you forget I go to a Christians school?....Yeah. I'm a dork. So...The fashion show was pretty good. The guys went to like Goodwill and stuff and got some pretty interesting outfits. Then the audience got to ask them questions and request that they do silly things. Great fun. I will attempt to get some pictures for you guys (although I said that I would do that on a previous post and never did so...yeah.).

Tomorrow I am going to JonTon's again. I know that you are all jealous but don't be. After all visiting Tonia does mean that I have to put up with Nerdboy. Just kidding. Tonia and I are going to see the movie "Shall we Dance" which ironically enough is about a dancing accountant. Which cracked me up. Then we will probably watch some Alias...And I will do my laundry. Score!! It will be fun.

Anyway, enough pretending...I guess I should get back to chemistry.....Unless I decide to pack for JonTon's first....Hmmmm...

Isn't my life exciting. Oh yeah!...

Okay so technically it is now Thursday...But I am not sure that it should count since I haven't gone to bed yet. I don't have to get up as early tomorrow so I tend to stay up somewhat later...Although I stay up until midnight on my normal nights too. hee hee.

Today was rather dull. I went to classes--almost slept through both of them--, I did some homework, I ate, I took some girls to Safeway, I went to group, I attended a mandatory meeting, um... I watched a movie, and now I am here blogging. The End.

So, tomorrow is my first test. It is in Accounting. I think that I will do fine on it...I am not worried really. I am however concerned about my chemistry test on Friday. I don't think I am ready for it. Well the sad thing is that I am worried about it but at the same time I don't care...Which is probably not a good combination. I like the teacher but I don't really feel like I have retained any knowledge. Much Badness. Oh well...

Tomorrow I work again. Fun, fun! I wish that they would give me a set schedule and junk. They seem a bit unorganized...But that is just me. I am gonna attempt to pin things down a bit more tomorrow...I think.

Anyway, that is all for now I guess. I should probably go to bed...as previously mentioned sleep is my favorite time of day..er night. ~Laura

Hurray for Sleeping!

Well today was the first day of work for me at Agros. I think it went pretty well. I was able to impress one of the accounting guys with my Excel knowledge! Go me! He didn't know...or couldn't remember how to make a formula constant and still be able to copy it to an adjoining cell. (All those who understood that give yourself a hand!) Then they sent me on an errand to the post office...Which was sorta interesting because I had to find the post office...But they drew me a map and it was all good. Hurray.

Even though today was a good day for the most part I just wanted to crawl back into bed and never get up again. I must say that I love sleeping. I would sleep all day every day if I had the option. Wouldn't that be nice. Awwww.....Sleep.

My brain is fuzzy.....

Okay, so I know I should blog. I mean, everyone is gonna be like, "What is going on with Laura?" However, I just don't feel like blogging. I mean I do, but at the same time I am not sure what to say. Besides I have a cold and my brain feels fuzzy. I figure I should save my brain cells for homework and not waste them on blogging. However, I know that this will not last forever. So, no worries. Tomorrow (Tuesday) I start my job at Agros. I will try to post an actual blog--detailing my life up to this point--tomorrow.

Much Love,
Laura :)

I am not going to blog today. And you can't make me. Hmph.

"I'm preparing to runaway"

Just a random quote for the title guys. For some reason I have had that line from 'Miss Congenality in my mind all day. Fun Fun.

I do have some stuff to post about, but I want to include pictures so I think I will wait until tomorrow or something.

Tomorrow I am gonna do homework. Fun Fun. Then on Sunday I am gonna go hang out with JonTon again. You are all jealous I know. (evil laugh).

Yeah. So I am gonna go watch a movie now. bye ~Laura

Wednesday, October 06, 2004

I am posting again...Something exciting must have happened!

Hey guys guess what! I heard back from Agros...and I got the job! Go me! No more job-hunting. Score! lol. So, I am now the Accounting Assistant for Agros International's Seattle office. (For all that are wondering this does NOT mean that I am persuing a career in my brother's footsteps.)

Anyway, I don't have an early class to go to so I am gonna go find something fun to do. ttfn. ~Laura

Wednesday

This week seems to be going by pretty fast. I am glad that it is Wednesday. Wednesday is a pretty good day. I get done with my classes by 11:00 so that is nice. I have some homework I should definitely get done, but I think it is just one class and it is due on Friday so I have time tomorrow too...Theoretically.

I still haven't heard anything from Agros. I was supposed to hear yesterday or Today. Jonathan says if I haven't heard by the end of the day I should call them tomorrow afternoon. We'll see what happens.

Tonight is 'group' formerly known as 'GROUP'...Why they switched from upper case to lower case is anyone's guess. lol. Anyway, it is a time of worship and a short sermon thingy. I really enjoy it. I am wondering if it will be as crowded as last week....We'll see.

Anyway, I should be doing something else I am sure...Perhaps I will blog again later if anything exciting happens. ttfn. ~Laura

Today is a Tuesday if ever there were one....

So today was my first Chemistry class at 8:15. The teacher decided to move up the class period 15 minutes so that we could have no class on Thursday. Everyone is pretty excited about this wonderful idea of his!

After my classes I did a lot of errand type things. I transferred money, I mailed a letter, I wandered around with my roommate. Below is a picture of Bonnie in her new lab coat. She is required to have one for her 2 science labs. She was very proud of it and proceeded to scare everyone on the floor with her impressions of a mad scientist. She cracks me up. Anyway, Hope you all had a good day. ~Laura

What Crockett and Danny did today....

Today Bonnie and I discovered what our stuffed animals do all day. Each time we came in we saw that they were up to something new. Below are a few of the discoveries. I wonder what they will do tomorrow....

I know who I am

Here is another song that I really enjoy. I am not sure why I keep sharing song lyrics....but it is my blog and I can do whatever I want! Take that! Anyway, enjoy. ~Laura

Who I Am
Jessica Andrews

If I live to be a hundred
And never see the seven wonders
That'll be alright
If I don't make it to the big leagues
If I never win a Grammy
I'm gonna be just fine
Cause I know exactly who I am

I am Rosemary's granddaughter
The spitting image of my father
And when the day is done my momma's still my biggest fan
Sometimes I'm clueless and I'm clumsy
But I've got friends that love me
And they know just where I stand
It's all a part of me
And that's who I am

So when I make a big mistake
And when I fall flat on my face
I know I'll be alright
Should my tender heart be broken
I will cry those teardrops knowing
I will be just fine
Cause nothing changes who I am

I am Rosemary's granddaughter
The spitting image of my father
And when the day is done my momma's still my biggest fan
Sometimes I'm clueless and I'm clumsy
But I've got friends that love me
And they know just where I stand
It's all a part of me
And that's who I am

I'm a saint and I'm a sinner
I'm a loser; I'm a winner
I am steady and unstable
I'm young, but I am able

I am Rosemary's granddaughter
The spitting image of my father
And when the day is done my momma's still my biggest fan
Sometimes I'm clueless and I'm clumsy
But I've got friends that love me
And they know where I stand
It's all a part of me
And that's who I am

What a Weekend!

Well it has been quite the weekend for me folks. Let's start from the beginning:

Friday Night:
Friday night was a very random mix of adventures. First off we had the Ice Cream Social. It was pretty good. Very nice. After that my roommate and I were kinda bored so we recruited some people to go to the Seattle Center...or maybe they recruited me, it is hard to say. Anyway, so we hung out at the Seattle Center for a while. Then we came back to the room and some other people on the floor decided to go to Alki beach. So, I tagged along and we had a bonfire and we sang corny songs. It was very entertaining.

Saturday:
On Saturday I went to JonTon's and we watched Alias. It was a very fun time....Once I got there. It just so happened that Tonia gave me the wrong exit number so I got lost in Kent for a little while, but it is all good. We have now officially started on third season. Which makes me happy. (Although I think that I like the other seasons better...) As much as I want JonTon to reach the end, I also don't because then I will have to find someone else to get addicted to it. Which I suppose I could do...Anyway, it was nice to be away from the dorms and enjoying real home living for a few hours. I enjoyed the home cooked meal and the private bathroom. Oooo! And their washer and dryer. I was able to do all my laundry for free! Hurray for relatives!

Sunday:
Today I am not really up to much. My roommate and I are attempting to ignore the fact that we have homework to do. So far we are accomplishing that pretty well. I have done some though and will do more...I promise. I actually don't have that much. Lets see...at 6:00 Bonnie (my roommate in case anyone is still confused about that) and I are going to go to JonTon's church. We didn't go to church this morning. We opted instead to sleep in and go this evening. At 9:30 tonight there is a meeting we have to attend concerning 'Fusion' which is an event that is coming up soon. I am not really sure what it is all about yet, but I suppose the meeting will tell me more.

So, that is/was my weekend folks! Hope you enjoyed my retelling of it....

It's Friday!!!!

Well today Anita my roommate left for good. Bonnie and I got up early and helped her movie out. It was kinda sad. Now our room looks sorta empty...Not quite as homey as it was before. However, on the bright side we have lots of space and we have an extra bed if anyone wants to come over. :)

I am really glad that it is a weekend. Tomorrow I am going over to JonTon's house. It should be fun. We are having an Alias marathon party thing....yeah. That is always great.

Anyway, tonight at 7 p.m. there is an ice cream social thing in the 1.5 lounge. That should be cool...And then there is some girls having a movie party thing that I might go to....So, that is my plans for tonight. Joy.

Yeah, hope everyone is doing well. ttfn. ~Laura

The Raid!

So last night both girl floors got raided by the boy floor. So they took us for a walk. We went over to the Troll as a group and it was pretty fun. Apparently it is a first raid tradition or something. Below are some pictures I took, but they aren't all that terrific. It was kinda dark. lol. Enoy. ~Laura

Is it Wednesday already?

I think that all drinks should come with straws. It is of my opinion that a straw makes a drink seem more happy. A drink is much more enjoyable when it has a straw. It makes the whole experience more fun. Part of me thinks there should be a law. (The other part remembers that I am not in favor of the government making stupid laws and controlling our every move)...

So I got an e-mail telling me that I had a package...Which of course made me pretty excited. I was all like "Somebody loves me!" So, I proceeded to go down to the package place...Where I found out it was just medication. lol. I was kinda a let down, but I found it pretty humorous. hee hee.

I have a job interview with Agros set for Monday @ 1:00. I guess they are interviewing me for the same position that my brother had because that is the one that they are in the most need of. They sounded pretty excited though. I hope everything works out.

ttfn. ~Laura

Things I have discovered so far

1)I don't like silence

2)I miss gum (but I guess my brother brought me some so now it is all good)

3)Having a car = popularity...lol

4)So far I am not really homesick....is that odd?

5)SPU's internet setup cds need to be made stupid people friendly

6)SPU is sooo more sophisticated than LCC because we have all black white board pens. That's right! No crappy-multicolored-cheap-dying-pens for us! In your face LCC! (hee hee)

---I'll let you know when I come up with more discoveries...lol.

tHe FiRsT dAy Of ClAsSeS!!

Well today was the first day of classes. I think they went pretty well. I had an 8:30 Chemistry and a 9:30 History class. Both seemed like they are gonna be okay. The Professors are pretty funny and seem to know what they are talking about/doing. Which is always a plus. Tomorrow I have Chemistry again and an Accounting class. That should be interesting....

ttfn. ~Laura

P.S. I think my hairdryer died a must tragic death. :(

Sunday, SUNDAY!!!

Today my roommate and I went to the 11:00 service at the church associated with SPU. It was a more traditional service than I think any of us were used to. However, I did enjoy it. I like the traditional every now and again. I thought the Pastor preached a good sermon, and he was pretty humorous and stuff. But, I will probably continue to look for a church.

I didn't do much today though. I played frisbee for a while with my roommate, Bonnie, and a couple of other random people. It was fun.

Anyway, tomorrow classes start tomorrow. It should be good. I am hoping to hear back from Agros tomorrow about my job. And I have a lot of random little things to do. It should be interesting.

TTFN! ~Laura

Time for some serious blogging!!

Okay! So here I go.

It has been a busy last couple of days. Thursday we departed from JonTon's and headed to SPU. We arrived basically right at 9 a.m. Which is good because that was when they started letting people in and such. So...We got all the paper work done and were soon moving in my stuff. I was the first of my roommates to show up and therefore got my pick of everything. I chose the bottom bunk and the desk right in front of it. I was glad about that. Then about an hour later Bonnie showed up...And Anita didn't show up until later. Yeah, so then I proceeded to connect my computer and unpack and such. My computer was hard to get setup because of SPU's stupid things, but currently I am the only roommate with a working computer....So that is good....for me. hee hee

So the past few days has been full of a bunch of nonsense that I have done a pretty good job of avoiding. I attended some things today, but nothing too dull. :) I now have Microsoft Office on my computer! Which is completely thrilling. Yea! I am going to organize my closet after I am done blogging....

As part of the first night at Moyer we went Ice Blocking at Gasworks Park. For those who don't know Ice Blocking is when you slide down a hill on a block of ice. It was fun. I only did it once, but at least now I can say that I have done it. It was fun...And I was able to use Jimmy (my car). I drove 4 other people over to the park. It was nice.

Tomorrow the returning students start showing up and stuff, so that should be interesting. More names I have to learn. Joy.

Anyway, I guess that is all I have to say for now. :) ~Laura

A Quick Post.

Well folks I am here. And I know you are all wondering about my day and such, but it is kinda late and I am still attempting to be a good roommate so I should probably get ready for bed since they are. I will write more later. But for now you must appease yourself with knowing that I am alive, safe, and my room is basically unpacked. Yea!

I got the bed and the desk that I wanted and I have been able to bond with lots of people today. lol. Anyway, more later I promise.

~Laura

Almost an SPUite...SPUian....well whatever

Well here I am blogging from JonTon's computer. It has been great fun. It is kinda hard to believe that tomorrow I will be in my dorm room! Yea! Supposedly not very many people arrive at 9 a.m., which is when I am getting there. So, I think that is a good thing. Than I can claim the good bed and desk and all will be well in Laura Land. I don't know when my roommates are showing up.

Yeah..So...It is sorta late so I should go to bed. We'll see if that actually happens or not. I might reply to some e-mails. Who knows when I will have Carter (my computer--for those who missed that) back up and running. It is rather annoying to have your computer disassembled. It is kinda unsettling...

Anyway, goodnight all. ~Laura

Tuesday, September 21, 2004

Um....The counting doesn't really apply anymore

Okay, so I know that everyone is confused. They are all like "When are you leaving" or "I thought you were leaving on Thursday" and it has reached a climax people! Here is the deal. I had previously planned to leave early early Thursday morning. However, we have since decided to go up to JonTon's on Wednesday night and then leave from there on Thursday morning. So...Does it all make sense now?

So, tonight I said goodbye to my friends. I think that they were the ones I was dreading saying goodbye to the most. I know that I will definitely see my family again, but sadly I may lose touch eventually with some of my friends. However, I do vow to make a very strong effort to avoid such a tragedy.

So, tomorrow is the big day. I am putting almost all of my worldly possessions into the cars and we are heading up to JonTon/SPU. Tomorrow I have to pack up Carter (my computer) and do a few last minute things...Ho hum.

Goodbye Sweet Longview
Goodbye house of mine on Larch St
Goodbye view of the RAL field
Goodbye Ocean Beach Highway
Goodbye Hollywood Video (I will miss you)
Goodbye cheap movie tickets...And cheap gas (*sobs*)
Goodbye small town that I generally (almost always)love
Goodbye Moon and
Goodbye Stars....lol

TOO! (hee hee)

Only two more days until I leave for SPU. Well one if you consider that I might head up Wednesday night to JonTon's. I can hardly believe that the time has finally come. It just doesn't seem real quite yet. I am really tired of people asking me if I am excited. I would like to make the promise that I will never as a college student that, but I fear that I would break it. Ahhh! I still have soo much to pack. I feel fairly prepared, but there is all these last minute things. Today was full of errands. Tomorrow is full of doctor appointments. Ah, the joys of leaving. It is kinda annoying to think that in 8 months I will be trying to wrap up ends on the other side of this coin. My roommate kinda compared it to an eight month vacation which is a funny thought. Anyway, I have tons I could be doing so I really shouldn't be sitting here in front of the computer...

F-I-V-E......

Well here I am at George Fox. Just watching Alias and hanging out. It is sooo much fun. Aren't you jealous! Anyway today was my last day of work. Only 5 more days until SPU. It is so exciting. I am getting really impatient.....

Thursday, September 16, 2004

Today was brought to you by the number 6!

Well tomorrow is my last day at work. I must say that I enjoy that fact. It has been a good summer job and I have enjoyed not working in fast food or something. However, it is still a job and as such I hate it. lol. I really am not a fan of work in general. Oh well, I guess I better get used to it.

This weekend I am visiting a friend down at George Fox University. It should be a really fun weekend. We are gonna hang out and watch Alias season 3. So...yeah. I am just spending Friday night and then coming back sometime on Saturday.

Anyway, I can't believe that I have less than a week left. I still have sooo much to do...I guess I should go to bed so that I don't have to think about it. lol.

The second post of the day!

A Relationship Survey

-What is love?
Read 1 Corinthians 13

-Do you believe that you can fall in love more than once with different people? Or do you believe that the only person you can fall in love with is the one you're meant to marry and every other time you only THINK you're in love?
That is a tough question. I think that quite often people only think they are in love, but in actuality they are experiencing the beginnings or possibly they are experiencing lust.

-Is love a feeling or a choice?
I would have to agree with Megan. It is definitely both.

-Do you believe in love at first sight?
Well I think that sometimes that happens. I mean I think that sometimes people just know that they are destined to be together, but I don't think it happens to everyone.

-How about soulmates?
Of course! But I do agree with Megan--Every relationship takes work. But when I think of soulmates I interpret it to mean...like...the person you are going to spend the rest of your life with--THE one!

-Can you fall in and out of love?
I think you can....But if you are in it for the long haul than you work at it and things will turn around.

-Are you afraid of marrying the wrong person?
Well...only slightly. I mean I would hope that I would have enough common sense to be able to tell the difference..but then I watch movies like The Perfect Murder or Enough and that makes me wonder....lol.

-Are you afraid of never getting married?
Afraid is probably too strong of a word. I know that I can be totally happy not being married, however I also know that I have envisioned myself married since as long as I can remember so, it would probably be a bit of a disappointment at times if I never got married....but I am not afraid of it.

-Have you ever had a crush on...
~A movie/tv star? (You can name them if you want)
Well...I don't know. I am not really big on crushes of people I can never have...but there are those that I find attractive and all....

~A movie/tv character?
Well considering my answer to the question above you would think that I wouldn't have..but I get entirely too wrapped up in my tv shows and can't help but wish that I knew some of them in real life.

~A cartoon character or one from an animated movie?
See....I just don't get that.

~A character from a book?
um....Probably...again, you see I get entirely too wrapped up in the story and want the characters to be real.

~Someone you met online?
Oh yeah!

~Your friend's boyfriend/girlfriend?
hmmm....yes and no...but mostly no.

~Someone significantly older/younger than you?
No

~Someone who was married?
Again...No.

-Should a girl...
~Ask a guy out?
Sure. Why not. Although I find it doubtful that I ever would....unless....

~Call a guy?
Again...why not...although I don't think that guys really like that all that much....

~Ask a guy to marry her?!
Well it is more romantic if the guy does it...but whatever.

-What do you think about...
~Sex?
absolutely nothing because I am a good Christian girl who never even mentions the word. hee hee. ;)

~Homosexuality?
Boy is that a loaded question. Obviously the Bible is pretty black and white on this issue. However, I don't see the point of Christians fighting really hard to persuade outsiders to agree with them on this issue because it really does no good. Both sides are too passionate to even see the other side. I really don't understand those who think writing a letter to the editor will solve the worlds problems....

~Marriage?
Is it my turn yet?

~Divorce?
I don't think that people try very hard to stay together anymore...plus I think that too many people get married for the wrong reasons and then realize that they made a mistake.

-What kind of qualities do you want in a boyfriend/girlfriend?
Strong Christian, humorous, integrity...etc. etc.

-Have you ever been in love?
sigh. No.

-Have you ever had your heart broken?
Thankfully not.

-Do you think that you will marry for love, or for something else like money?
You gotta have the love!

-Would you start seeing someone even if your friends and/or family disapproved?
Probably not. My friends and family are a pretty good judge of character.

-Would you elope?
Sure! After watching the process of the JonTon wedding....I kept thinking "It would be so much less hassle just to elope..." :)

The End!

Seven-seven-boven-me-my-mo-meven--Seven!

My walls are now once again white...well offwhite. It is slightly depressing. I am almost done cleaning out my room. Boxes are getting closed up and things are getting sorted out. Everything is coming together...Mostly. I have a whole list of things I need to do before I leave.
1) Register to vote Absentee
2) Make/Reschedule doctor appointments
3) Go shopping
4) order checks
5) update resume
6) etc. etc. etc.

Well you get the idea..And that doesn't include all the people I have to say goodbye to. Oh dear...Going to college is more difficult than one would think...

Ate...I mean...EIGHT!!!!!!!

Another song I take to heart:

I wanna do it all
by Terri Clark

I'm sitting in traffic
For the 5th year in a row
Wasting my time
Just to get
Where I don't even wanna go
I started jotting things down
On a krispy kreme sack
Everything I'd do
If I could leave this place
And never look back

(Chorus)
I wanna do it all
Visit Paris in the fall
Watch the Yankees play ball
I wanna take it all in
Catch a few beads
Down at Mardi Gras
Start a tradition
Lay down the law
I wanna do it all

I want to drink tequila
Down in Tijuana
Say why not
When somebody says
Hey do you wanna
I wanna get my heart broke
Once or twice
Settle down with the love of my life
Rock little babies to sleep at night

I wanna spend a day
Every now and then
Just doin what I want to do
When I wanna do it
Anytime I wanna do it

(Chorus)

I wanna do it all
See Niagara falls
Fight city hall
Feel good in my skin
Beating the odds
With my back to the wall
Try to rob Peter
Without paying Paul
I wanna do it all
I wanna do it all
I wanna do it all

Nine (9)

I hate when I have so much to say and really no way to put it into words. No matter how hard I try it just comes out sounding stupid. Why is that? Why is it that when I need it most the English language always seems to fail me. It is times like this that I almost wish I spoke another language because maybe it would enable me to say what I want to. But alas, I am a shallow American who has learned no other languages....

It's a weird feeling being on the verge of a new personal frontier. You have all sorts of unanswered questions. Will I be liked? Will I be overly homesick? Will I be able to coexist with my roommates? Will I meet the guy of my dreams? Will I feel overwhelmed and wish I had stayed in my safety net of Longview?....

The semi annoying thing is that there is no way to answer those questions...well not really anyway. There are the obvious statements---I will be homesick at some point...And at least one person will like me I'm sure....And my roommates seem nice....And I will most definitely feel overwhelmed at times....as for the guy of my dreams--who knows.

Ah well. Only one way to find out for sure I guess....
