Attack of the Monster Crane Fly

I haven't posted in a couple of days and I am sure that you are all wondering what I am up to. I wish I could have a really good excuse. However, I am just a lazy person and have not really done anything worth blogging about.

My roommate came back last night. I am glad to have her back because I was getting kinda lonely all by myself. I have spent most of the last week outside of my room because there was no one in my room to talk to. :) However, now that my roommate is back I have to actually act like a person again. lol.

Last night there was a Crane Fly in our room. I wanted to kill it but Bonnie wished to save its life. I at first let her deal with it because I didn't really care, I just wanted it to stop flying around. It seemed to enjoy popping out of nowhere and startling me. We however were not successful at getting it out alive. We lost it somewhere in the process and just decided to go to bed. But when I was reading Bonnie screamed and pointed, "Crane Fly by your head!" At which point I scrambled out of my bed entirely too fast. This caused Bonnie to laugh at me. Obviously this was an over reaction to a Crane Fly but the way that Bonnie said it made me jump. Plus it was like 12:30 at night. So, since I was out of bed we continued to try to look for the bug for a while longer with little success. I found it once and possibly wounded it, but we didn't find it after that. So, we went to bed. And I swear I heard the thing by the window blinds as I was trying to sleep. Stupid bug....

No More Toilet!!!!

So, tonight was the annual Moyer vs. Robbins Broomball competition. :) Every year Moyer takes on the Robbins Apartments in a 2 hour Broomball game! For those of you who are not familiar with Broomball it is basically just people on ice with no ice skates using brooms to hit a "four-square ball" into a net. It is really fun. Slightly dangerous, but really really fun. :)

I am happy to report that Moyer Hall won!! We beat Robbins 5 to 2. At first we were down by one point, but then we tied them at 1-1. Then they scored and we within the next 10 minutes we scored as well. It was then 2-2 at which time we took a 10 minute break. After our break we managed to kill Robbins, keeping them scoreless for the rest of the game! The loser of this annual competition has to take home the painted toilet. It has been floating around Moyer all year since we lost last year, but thankfully it will spend next year in Robbins. :) Below are some pictures of the event. Enjoy.

I should get to bed since I have stupid Spanish tomorrow. I do believe I am going to do badly on the first quiz/test thing. Oh well. There is always 2 weeks from now....

My Life Updated

Okay, so I feel like I haven't blogged for real in a long time. It is my mission in this blog to bring you up to date. I will be covering from Friday until now. :) So be prepared for a long post.

Friday:
I was hoping to have more pictures, but the other people haven't sent them out yet so oh well. On Friday Eleven members of my floor left for my P.A.'s house at about 6:30ish. She lives just outside of Gig Harbor in a town called Lakebay. She really has quite the house! It is right on Bay Lake and she has a view of the lake which is really beautiful. She has an 8 car garage, although I don't think any of it is actually used for cars. :) Part of that is her dad's workshop and then in the back they have an RV garage that is actually just a basketball court thing. So, yeah. See the pictures below and then move on to the rest of the story. :)

Ann's House Posted by Hello

View from Ann's Deck Posted by Hello

So, we arrived at Ann's house at about 9 o'clock in the evening. We proceeded to have a very large dinner since none of us had eaten yet (we had expected to leave SPU at about 5ish). It was very good. The rest of the night was spent having a blast. We played a couple games, watched "Spanglish" and ate way too much food. You see her dad collects these 'toys.' He has a popcorn maker (like we rent for the Terry/Taylor garage sale), a slushy machine, a soft-serve ice-cream machine, a cotton candy machine, a deep fryer, a milkshake maker, etc. Although we didn't use all of those we used most (He sent all of us home on Saturday with a bag of cotton candy. We were very excited. :) I love cotton candy.) Anyway, so we didn't get to sleep until about 4 a.m. because we were having so much fun. :)

Saturday:
On Saturday we woke up at about 10 o'clock. Ann's Dad had made a very large breakfast for us all. I am not a huge breakfast person, I prefer small breakfasts, but it was amazing to look at. :) I had a yummy cinnamon roll. But there was lots else I could have had. We departed from Ann's house at about Noonish. Had a good drive back to SPU and arrived at about 2ish. It had been a good retreat.

After unloading my car and being in my room about 5 minutes I called up Megan. Her and I had decided to go to Olympia for the day to visit Andrea who had a horse show thing there. I had Megan drive since I had just driven back from Ann's house. We had an enjoyable drive down to Olympia (well Tumwater technically). We were able to find the horse show without too much difficulty. We did get a little lost though, but once we figured out which way east was we did much better. lol.

I had such a good time with Andrea. It was nice to see her again. :) We hung out at the horse show for a bit while Andrea finished up everything she needed to. Megan and I went up and saw her "Miss Southern Oregon Pinto" table. We got a signed picture of her and everything. :) We soon left the horse show and headed back to her hotel room. There we got directions to Olive Garden and we were off! We had a very delicious dinner and caught up on each others lives. Good times. After dinner we headed back to her hotel. Megan and I hung out there until about 8 o'clock. We then headed back to SPU.

Once back at SPU I hung out with Megan and some of her pals. We watched a movie in Ashlee and Heather's room. It was a pretty good movie. It wasn't as 'bad' as I thought it was going to be. It is one of those movies you end up thinking about days later. I think that one needs to see it more than once to fully grasp it though. However, I would not recommend it to 90% of the people who read this blog because they would not appreciate it. ;)

Sunday:
I spent Sunday catching up on all the homework I had put off. I went to church in the evening and out with JonTon afterwards. :) More good times. It seems like I might have done something sorta fun this day, but I have completely forgotten. lol.

Monday - Wednesday:
Okay, time to pick things up a little. I haven't really done much since the weekend. I have been in a particularly lazy mode. Ugh. There is so much I should do, and yet I am just so unmotivated to do it.

I applied for Hall Council publicist on Monday. Emily (a girl down the hall) and I are gonna be on Hall Council together. She ran for secretary. I don't think anyone is running against us, which is the kind of election process I like when campaigning. lol. We do not yet have a complete Hall Council. We have someone running for President and then Emily and I. So, we still need VP, Treasurer, and Senator. We shall see how long it takes to fill up those positions. Moyer does not tend to have good hall participation in such things. Oh well. I am looking forward to next year and working with Emily and such. It should be good. Plus there are benefits: a free ticket to hall banquet next year, and possibly a free sweatshirt. We also get to move into the dorms a week early (which could be viewed as a negative but I choose to look at it positively, at least for now.)

So yeah. Other than that all I have been doing is school. The weather is finally getting spring like. We have had a couple sunny days. I was able to get out and play Frisbee yesterday. Yeah! Hopefully the sun will continue. Anyway, hope you feel updated...I hope I didn't leave anything out. :)

I know that everyone wants me to post about this weekend, however I am hoping to soon have pictures that can go along with my story. So I am gonna wait another day. :) Until then you may ponder these Alias tid-bits.

1)How did Jack have the same mutation as the other test subjects when he was exposed to regular radiation, instead of the transformer coil?

2)Katya and Sloane both referred to Irina in the present tense.

3)Was the song in the music box the same one that Katya was singing? (earlier when Nadia was visiting Katya she said: "It's a folk song our father used to sing, about a Russian Robin Hood. It was one of your mother's favorites." Katya, explaining the song she was singing to Nadia.)

You're North Dakota!

You are rather remote, and even inaccessible to the average person. While
many would thus describe you as stuck-up, to you it seems more like you're just stuck.

Early Weekend Post...or something

So, this will most likely be my last post until Monday because I have a busy weekend.

Tomorrow is my floor retreat. We are spending the night at my PA's house. She lives just outside of Gig Harbor. From the stories I have heard, it sounds like she has a pretty cool house. There aren't too many of us going because everyone is busy this weekend, however everyone is busy every weekend this quarter so we decided to pick this one. :) Which worked for me. hee hee.

We get back from the floor retreat about 2:00 on Saturday. At which time I will see if I am up to going down to Olympia with Megan to visit Andrea at a horse show thing. :) I am going to try my best to not be grumpy or tired. lol. However, if I am not feeling up to it than just I will go visit Andrea on Sunday. So, yeah. It should be good.

I am going over to JonTon's tonight to hang out and borrow a sleeping bag for this weekend. :) Hopefully I can fit some laundry in there too. Hurray! lol.

Anyway, so unless I get a chance to post later this weekend, this is probably all you will hear from me. I will try to have a report and maybe some pictures for you on Monday! ttfn

Too many decisions!

Okay, so maybe I don't have all that many decisions to make. I definately have two things I need to decide though.

#1 To run for Hall Council or not. You see the application is due monday, and I am now suddenly thinking of running. In Moyer it is really easy to get the positions because no one runs. And it would look good on a resume. Plus next year I would get a free ticket to banquet and a free ticket to Hall retreat. So there is that too. It would be a time commitment though. Not too much of one though. I am just not sure if I want to do it or not. I also wonder if sometimes I just get these thoughts in my head and then I totally rush into them without really giving them much thought or prayer. So...I don't know yet what I amd doing for that.

#2 To go Mermaiding or not. lol. SPU girls have this 'club' thing. Each year every girl floor on campus at one time during the quarter goes mermaiding and then they get t-shirts that say "The Naked are Bold" on the back and on the front it says something about the mermaiding club. I am not sure when they are doing it exactly, but it is going to be this quarter sometime. I guess right now I am leaning towards doing it, but I haven't totally decided yet. It also will depend somewhat on when they do it because I have my Saturday class and all. But I don't think that will be a problem. I just haven't decided if I am gonna do it or not...so...yeah.

So, um, I guess that is all I have to say today. These are the things that are on my mind. lol

The weekend

I hope you all enjoyed reading yesterday's post. I was going to write more about my weekend, but I liked the way yesterday's post flowed that I didn't want to ruin it by continuing with the rest of my weekend. :)

So, lets see. This weekend my family was able to come up. I met up with them at JonTon's on Friday evening. We had a very delicious dinner that Tonia fixed. Yummy. Then we celebrated my mom's b-day with presents and cake. It was a very enjoyable evening. Teresa came back to Seattle with me for the night and we hung around the dorm for a bit before heading for bed. I didn't stay up too late because I had my silly Saturday Spanish class the next day.

On Saturday I woke up at about 8ish and got ready for my 9:00 Spanish class. I was really dreading this class. I mean it already has 2 strikes against it: 1) it is a foreign language and 2) it meets on a Saturday for 6 hours. However, in spite of these two strikes I think that it will be okay. I will have to work at it, but I think I will survive. It is a small class there are only 7 of us total. And actually I am the only girl! Shocking I know, especially at SPU. However, in case you are all excited let me narrow it down for you. 1 guy is married, 1 guy is too old for me, 1 guy is really not my type. This leaves 3 guys who have not been ruled out yet based on the limited conversation I had with them (which consisted of our broken Spanish phrases..."Como se llama?"...."De donde eres?"...etc). After the first 5 minutes the class got better because up until that point the professor (who is actually really nice) was speaking entirely in Spanish. I really thought for a moment I might die. lol. But the remainder of the class was good. So yeah...

Today I spent most of the day doing homework. I got up at like 10ish and got ready for the day. I began homework at 11:30 and worked until lunch at like 12:15. After lunch I came back to the room and my phone rang. It was Bonnie, she had missed her church bus back to SPU because she was in the nursery. So Emily and I went on a mission to pick her up. However, it was interesting since we didn't know exactly how to get there. However, after passing the zoo twice and going around in a few circles we did figure out how to find the church. It was fun though, and we didn't leave poor Bonnie waiting too long. :) ...So after we got back to SPU I continued doing homework, with a few minor distractions (mainly because I was doing my homework in front of my computer...Always a mistake, although if I do it on my bed I just end up taking a nap, so it is really a no win situation).

So, yeah. I did homework and then ate a really lame dinner since Gwinn isn't open on Sunday nights. I then went off to church. It was an okay service. JonTon and I went to Wendy's like we often do afterwards. It is always nice to hang out. Once back at SPU I rounded a gang together and headed to Fred Meyers. I bought a lightbulb (because my other one stopped working after I dropped the lamp...Go figure), and I also got some stuff for my secret sister. Hurray for that. At 10:00 I watched Grey's Anatomy with a group of people. It is my new show. I started it over spring break because that is when it started. I am glad that there is a group of us watching it here at SPU (especially since it takes places in Seattle).

Tomorrow begins another week. I am saddened by this fact. So often I wish the weekends would continue for ever. That would be nice. :) Anyway, hope you all had an enjoyable weekend. ttfn

I walk slowly down the hallway, wondering where exactly I am going. I have always disliked not knowing my exact destination. Several times I have stopped and wondered if I am going the right direction. I come to the end of the hall. In front of me is a door that has a sign posted on it concerning some sort of emergency exit. Although it at first seems like it is itself an emergency exit I soon determine that it is not. I slowly open the door in case I am mistaken.

What do I find when I open the door? It is something I never would have guess would be there. I am slightly confused by what I find. Behind the door I just opened is another door. I wonder for a second if I have entered some sort of alternate universe or perhaps a cartoon. "Should I open the second door?" I wonder. I proceed to open the second door, praying that I do not find yet another door behind it. Thankfully I do not. Instead I find a another hallway, which I guess is an extension of the hallway I am already in. I enter the hallway and the two doors close behind me. I cautiously walk down the hall and find my designated room. I think to myself, "This cannot be the best beginning to my Spanish class..."

Yep....

Today was a nice relaxing day. I don't work on Wednesdays so it is my one day during the week to just do nothing. Although I did do stuff today. I went to classes until 12:30 and then I ate lunch. After lunch I hung about for a bit before I wet to my math lab at 2:00. I was there fore a whole half an hour and then came back to Moyer. I did a little homework, checked a little e-mail, chatted with a few of my peeps and took a nap. After my nap it was off to dinner. Hurray for food (even if it is Gwinn). Following dinner I did more mindless things on the computer and then read a bit as well. Before I knew it it was 9:00, Alias! It was a good episode, and now I am just hanging around. Melissa wanted to go to McDonald's, but she is still at Group, so I am not sure if that is happening tonight or not.

Tomorrow I work and do homework. Then it is Friday. I like Fridays. However, this Friday does not signify the end of my school week since I have class on Saturday. Ugh. However, my family is coming up to visit so that will make things better. Assuming I live through my Spanish class I will meet up with them on Saturday afternoon. :)

I must now continue my uneventful life.

Tuesday, April 05, 2005

wow....

I feel like I should post since I haven't yet today. However, I don't really have much to say, or rather I have too much to say and there is no way I can express it through a blog. :)

I went to a forum today on Christians and the Music Industry and how we should relate to popular music. It was really interesting and had some good perspectives. It makes me think of things differently. Which, is always nice.

I am also reading a couple of amazing books which is nice too. For my bible study with Megan this quarter we are reading "And The Bride Wore White." We aren't very far into it, but it looks like it should be really good. I am looking forward to it.

The other book I am reading is for my Christian Theology (UFND) class. We had to pick one of four to write some sort of paper on or something. I am not sure of that part yet...but the book I picked is by Gary Haugen (the President of the International Justice Mission). It is called "Good news about Injustice." I am not sure what it is about this book, but I really just want to keep on reading it. It is nice to have a book for a class that you actually want to read. :)

Anyway, maybe that gives you a little insight into my head and why I have too much to say. If you wish to ask me about any of these topics outside of the blogging arena that would be cool. Although I promise no clear answers, since I doubt I have it all figured out yet in my head.

2nd Moyer Floor Picture! Posted by Hello

Did You Miss Me?

Lets see. This weekend was pretty good. I didn't really do anything though. Saturday was spent in laziness. I got up at about 10:30ish and just hung around the dorm all day. Bonnie and I watched a movie. It seemed to be the day that never ended. I was seriously ready for it to end at 8:00 and yet it stretched on for another 4 hours! Good grief.

Sunday I also woke up at about 10:30. I spent this day pretty lazily as well. I finished up my homework, but other than that accomplished nothing. I didn't go to church in the evening because well...I am a loser. JonTon was in Graham and I am just not all that excited about the church itself, especially what we are studying in the evening service. So, I didn't go. I could choose a different church, but at this stage in the year I figure it isn't worth it. So, yeah.

Today was pretty good. I went to my classes and then I went to work. My classes are going pretty good. I still haven't started half of them though. (I like saying that, but it makes it out to be more dramatic than it is). My Spanish class starts next Saturday, and I am gonna start my math lab on Wednesday (I think). I really like my Christian Theology class. I think it will be pretty good. My marketing class will be okay, but nothing fantastic. We are already working on group projects and stuff. Joy.

Work has been pretty busy the last couple of days, so that is nice. I like having stuff to do. We will see how it goes tomorrow though, since everyone will be in the office hogging the computers and doing all the necessary jobs. :) One of these days I will have a job where I get my own computer and I get to be the one with little helpers running around for me. Ugh.

Once I got back from work I went to the 'floor dinner.' Last quarter I didn't get to go to any of them because I was working. However, this quarter I will be able to attend because I changed my work schedule. :) It is nice to sit as a 'big' group and hang out. :)

Anyway, I should probably go so that I can get things done before my Bible Study tonight. ttfn!

Nothing Quite Says "Happy Easter" Like Ninja Turtle Easter Decorations

Today we are celebrating Easter on my floor because we didn't get to celebrate together. We are going to dye eggs and stuff. It should be fun. Ann, my P.A. put up Ninja Turtle Easter decorations in the bathroom. They are pretty funny/cute. :)

The first week of classes is over. I feel so weird because I still have half my classes I haven't attended (my Spanish class, and my math lab). I think that this quarter will go pretty well. I am slightly nervous about my Marketing class and extremely nervous about my Spanish class. But I like to think it will all work out. Expect to hear me ranting about those classes throughout this quarter though. lol.

I got a movie in the mail today that I ordered. It is "Wide Awake." I really like this movie cause it is so cute and stuff. lol. Bonnie and I will probably watch it tonight. :) Unfortunately the other movie I wanted, "Laura," was out of stock, so I don't get that one. I have to go find someplace else to buy it from, which makes me sad. Oh well. I guess I will enjoy the movie I did get. I do love getting new dvds.

Happy Day.

First Impressions

Well today was my first day of classes. I hate that I have to admit that Spring Quarter has started. ugh. I am not sure what to think of my classes. I only had 2 of them today. My Christian Theology class seems like it will be pretty good. It should be more enjoyable than last quarter's UFND. My Marketing class seems sorta scary though. We will just have to see how things go. I didn't go to Math Lab today, but I will probably start that tomorrow. My Spanish class doesn't start until next Saturday, which I thought was odd. However, that is the weekend that some of my family is coming up, so that could be annoying. It will work out though.

I was done with classes at 12:30 today. Since then I have done some homework, fixed my dorm key (it got bent...oops), and now I am just hanging out. Tonight I have Alias of course, and I also have a mandatory meeting to go to. Isn't school fun.

Back to Life

Well here I am back in the real world (well sorta).
Yesterday was really an annoying day to be on the freeway. There was a big accident in Centralia on I5 going south. It had like 15 cars involved. And of course I5 north had to slow down and look. So, it took me a while to get past that, then there were a couple other points that were slow. However, I still beat my roommate back. :)

I was able to fit all 4 of JonTon's chairs into my car amazingly enough. So, I had dinner with them last night to drop them off. It also allowed me to escape Gwinn for one more day. Hurray for that.

I went to work at 9:00 today. It looks like I will be adding another person to my carpool. Stacie will now join Valerie and I in the mornings on Tuesday and Thursday. What fun. :) I must say I love having Jimmy up here.

Speaking of Jimmy he is quite content with the way spring break worked out for him. He got new tires, a bath, and some much appreciated oil. What a happy car I have.

Finally to end this blog I would just like to state how good I am. lol. You see I saved a little over $200 on my books for this quarter. I was able to borrow one that would have been about $100 and I also got some through the book exchange. Yeah for me! I hate spending the money, but I always enjoy the feeling of having all my books purchased for the quarter.

Anyway, that is the newest information on my life. Classes start tomorrow. Joy.

Spring break....oh if you could only go on forever

Just a quick post since I haven't posted in so long. Sorry about that. I have been busy doing nothing. Which was my goal for spring break. I have just been hanging around. I have watched many movies, shopped a bit, hung out with my peeps, and slept in a lot. It has been nice. Hard to believe it is coming to an end. Oh well, I suppose it is too good to last forever. :) Hope you guys are all having a good week.

It's A Great Day To Be Alive

by Travis Tritt
I got rice cooking in the microwave
Got a three day beard I don't plan to shave
And it's a goofy thing but I just gotta say
Hey I'm doing alright

Yeah I think I'll make me some homemade soup
Feelin pretty good and that's the truth
It's neither drink nor drug induced
No I'm just doin alright

And it's a great day to be alive
I know the sun's still shinin when I close my eyes
There's some hard times in the neigborhood
But why can't every day be just this good?

It's been fifteen years since I left home
Said good luck to every seed I'd sown
Give it my best and then I left it alone
Oh...I hope their doin alright

Now I look in the mirror and what do I see?
A lone wolf there starin back at me
Long in the tooth but harmless as can be
Lord I guess he's doin alright

And it's a great day to be alive
I know the sun's still shinin when I close my eyes
There's some hard times in the neigborhood
But why can't every day be just this good?

Sometimes it's lonely
Sometimes it's only me
And the shadows that fill this room
Sometimes I'm fallin
Desperately callin
Howlin at the moon...
Ahwoo!
Ahwoo!

Well I might go get me a new tattoo
Or take my old Harley for a three day cruise
Might even grow me a Fu Man Chu...
Oh Aww!

And it's a great day to be alive
I know the sun's still shinin when I close my eyes
There's some hard times in the neigborhood
But why can't every day be just this good?

And it's a great day to be alive
I know the sun's still shinin when I close my eyes
There's some hard times in the neigborhood
But why can't every day be just this good?

Home Sweet Home

Well, I am back in Longview now. I got in yesterday about 3:30. It is nice to be home. So far I haven't done much. I got caught up on all the recorded episode of Amazing Race my parents saved for me. :) I really hope Rob and Amber win. I love them! Hurray for crossover reality TV stars. lol

Today I have just been lounging around. I went to the Library and got some movies to watch and stuff. I think I will call my friends and see if they want to watch TV with me tonight. :)

My life is very exciting.

It's finally over!

Well, my winter quarter is over and so is my stress. I finished my last final today and I get to go home tomorrow! Hurray for that! :) I went to work today after my final, I will probably just hang out the rest of the day. I should pack up and stuff though. I am leaving SPU after I work and get things settled tomorrow. I hope to be home by dinner, but we will see if that actually happens. Yeah!!

Have a ginger-peachy spring break?

My communications teacher is odd.

Well, I am almost done with finals. I have one more tomorrow, but I am not worried about that one. I haven't decided if I am studying for it or not. I guess I should though. It is my U-Found one and I have done well on my other 2 tests in his class, so yeah.

I am really ready to come home. I got done with my finals today at 1:30 and have really done nothing since. Well, that isn't exactly true, I cleaned my room. I am really excited because I can actually find stuff in my drawers now. :) I need to bring some like organizational things up from Longview when I come back.

Anyway, I don't really have much to say. I am just killing time until I can go home basically. I can't believe I have to wait until Wednesday. Ugh.

P.S. New pics at my website under family and College but you have to go to my spu one because my geocities one will get too full if I keep adding pictures to it. :)

Yesterday was...Interesting

Well yesterday was full of interesting events. Although I stated that I was going to spend most of the day studying, it didn't really happen. I think I spent a cumulative total of about an hour studying yesterday. I was basically just really unmotivated. Bonnie was making me look bad though because she spent most of the day working on Chemistry. Good Bonnie.

So, the one of the most interesting things that happened yesterday was that our power went out. Moyer, Hill, Emerson, and lower campus building has only emergency lighting. For some reason Ashton was able to avoid it though. :) It was kinda funny though because the only lights on in our dorm were the hallway lights and then the lounges. But our rooms and the bathrooms were not working. So, it kinda disrupted those studying (which was not me...I was watching a rerun of Gilmore Girls at the time). Great fun. So, everyone was just hanging around, it was nice. I like random things like that. I don't think that power outages happen often enough. lol.

Okay, so I know you really want me to talk about Scrounge. For those of you who are not aware, Scrounge is a scavenger hunt put on by Moyer Hall. Teams of four go off in one car and try to find out all these random things. We had to collect some things and also find out some information concerning certain places. For instance we had to collect 30 ketchup, Mustard, creamers, and 10 soy sauce for 45 points (i think) and we had to find who adopted the highway at exit 176. So, it was a variety of things. We ended up driving up to Everett to do most of the things and then hit Lynnwood on the way back to Seattle. It was really fun. We didn't win, but we had a blast! We all want to do it again soon, but we have to wait until next year. Oh well, something to look forward to I guess. :) Below is the picture of my team in our 'costumes'.

finals are from the devil

I see I haven't blogged in a while. However, I feel I have an excuse because it is the last weeks of classes. The official end of classes was on Friday. Now, we all just have to survive finals. I got up at 9:00 today so that I could start studying, but I haven't even started that yet. Ho Hum.

So, basically I am spending most of today and tomorrow studying for finals. Then I have 2 finals on Monday and 1 on Tuesday. I am coming home sometime on Wednesday depending on when I can get everything I need to finished.

Tonight at 8:30ish is Scrounge. A city-wide scavenger hunt put on by Moyer. It should be good. It will be a welcomed study break for all of us. We have teams of 4. My group consists of Bonnie, Myself, Melissa (across the hall), and Christy (down the hall a bit). It should be fun. I will be driving of course. I am not sure how I feel about this, but it should be fun. There is extra points for costumes, but everyone except Bonnie isn't too crazy about the idea. However, we might have Bonnie and Melissa wear their lab coats and then Christy and I will draw whiskers on our faces and be lab rats. :) I think that is as far as we will go.

Anyway, looks like I have prolonged studying long enough. Time to get cracking. Ugh and double ugh.

I want one....

Today I would like to talk about i-pods. Sorta random I know. However, I would like to state my annoyance with all who own them.

You see those who have them would like to think they are special because of their ownership of this particular music playing device. They all become a member of some sort of exclusive club when they get one. They walk around thinking they are all that just because they have the signature white headphones.

Now what I find amusing is those who try to be as cool as the i-pod owners. You know the type; they walk around campus with headphones in their ears attempting to get in with the i-pod club. But you see it just isn't the same because everyone can tell. We all see that you don't have the signature white headphones. You aren't fooling anybody. It always makes me laugh inwardly when they pull out a discman. Who do they think they are? Discmans are like so yesterday....

I also don't fully understand the reversal. There are those among the i-pod owners who have chosen to not use the white signature headphones. As if they are ashamed of their i-pod. They want to lower their status with higher-quality-not-as-good-looking headphones in order to make themselves apear less exclusive.

I like how everyone around campus complains about how poor they are and then each one pulls out a $200 music playing device. I mean really I can understand their inward struggle. "hmmm, to buy a book for my class or to purchase an i-pod..." As much as I want an i-pod I don't think I can justify taking out another school loan in order to enable me the joy of walking around campus to the beat of my i-pod (like I'm freakin' Sydney Bristow with my own soundtrack or something). Because after all it is quite clear that those who are able to purchase i-pods on a college students income are one of two things--a)stupid/irresponsible or b) annoyingly rich.

Obviously I have made some generalizations but you get the idea...

how do the makers of spyware sleep at night?

There once was a computer named Carter. Carter had been a bad computer and had not been fully inoculated at the beginning of school. But Carter did not care. He went and played in the breeding grounds for all sorts of viruses and bugs. Carter soon came down with a mildly annoying bug which annoyed Laura. However, Laura being the wise person that she is decided to ignore it. Laura was in denial.

Carter's bug although not completely obvious, would show its presence right when Laura was in the middle of important things like 'myspace' and 'facebook' and her other 'important' activities. This caused Laura to be somewhat concerned. With the help of Bonnie her trusty side-kick they dug deeper into the mystery of Carter's ailment. Although they did make some progress they were hindered by the powerful bugs that had become a part of Carter...(that and Bonnie's brilliant idea to delete the virus protection--Laura and Bonnie were slightly confused as to which virus protection had been given to them by the university.)

However, they would not give up hope. They were on a mission to save Carter! At this point though there was nothing more that could be done that day. Laura would need to go and get the 'cure' from CIS the next day. Laura being the easily frustrated and annoyed person she is decided she no longer liked Carter. She said mean horrible things such as "Carter is on drugs" and "Carter is dead to me, long live The Computer Formerly Known as Carlos!" among other things that shall remain unrepeated.

The next day after work Laura attempted to properly inoculate Carter. Although Carter was feeling not quite up to the task because of the previous statements by Laura. However, he did wish to get better. So, Laura proceeded to give him things to make him better. First Ad-Aware, which Carter doesn't like at all, and then Spybot, and then McAfee. Although he had some of those before he got sick they weren't really working properly. All of these things did help Carter. Carter now is feeling much better. He has hopefully learned his lesson. No more playing where he shouldn't. Hopefully the inoculation will help him stay safe despite his carefree ways. Now Laura and Carter are back to spending quality time together. She is sorry for the mean things she said. Carter is her favorite computer after all.

bah, and double bah

wow. i am gonna write in all lowercase today. why? because i can. perhaps tomorrow i will use no punctuation. i am a rebel like that.

i wasn't planning on blogging today, but since i have nothing else to do i decided i might as well. life today was fairly dull. i got up at 9:30ish and started homework an hour later. i was done with my homework basically by lunch though. :) i tend to get classes that don't require too much work. either that or i have a knack for making it look and seem like less work. i could just do it at times that allow me to have more time when everyone else doesn't. i am not sure how it all works.

i am really excited about spring break. even though i don't have anything fantastic planned it will be nice to be home and away from spu. 14 days of freedom! hurray for that. i have to get through finals first though. i am not too worried, but i am not looking forward to studying. ugh.

anyway, i guess that is all for now. it has been a pretty good weekend. pretty relaxing and such. it would have been nice to hang out with a few more people, but it was good. :)

p.s. what is up with the lack of comments. hellooo? is anybody alive out there?

eh, that can wait until tomorrow...

Saturdays are nice. I feel pretty lazy though. I haven't really done any homework at all. I think I might save it for tomorrow though. I don't really feel like doing it today. I slept until 11:00 today, that was nice. It was only 9 hours of sleep though since I stayed up until 2:00 last night. :) A group of us Moyer girls walked around Hill Hall last night. We just wandered around and stuck our heads in any random guys door that was open. Oddly enough while wandering around we saw Megan and her Emerson crew. Apparently Hill Hall is the place to be on Friday night. Not that anything was going on there, most of the doors were closed. Then we came back and hung around. A few of us ended up watching a corny movie. You know that one with the ex-hockey player and the figure skater who team up together and go to the Olympics---"The Cutting Edge". Yeah, we watched that. One of the gang hadn't seen it. I like the movie, but it is on TV all the time and sorta cheesy...but oh well. :)

I have been counting my steps all week with the pedometer (or whatever) I borrowed from my mom. I have determined that I am a fairly lazy person. The goal for the day is supposed to be 10,000 steps. Yesterday was the only day I have reached the goal. Oh well. I do pretty well on Monday and Friday because I work and go to classes, but the other days are kinda sad. lol.

Anyway, only a week left of classes, well 3 days of classes technically. Then 2 days of finals and I can go home! Hurray for that. Almost there!

"Isn't life wonderful..."

Today was a really nice day. The weather was wonderful. I went to work, did homework, took a nap, went on a walk, and am soon leaving for JonTon's for the evening. Nothing to complain about today (shocking I know).

I am excited that tomorrow is Friday. I love weekends. Not too many left in the quarter either, which is another thing to be happy about. :) Only 4 more class days! Then I am done with science classes forever. And I won't be in Wall's class anymore! lol. Although it hasn't been too bad. Mostly just boring.

Anyway, I guess I should go get ready for my ride to JonTon's. Dan is taking me, it is nice to carpool. ttfn. ~Me

people should blog more often.

So...what to say today. Even though I have nothing to say I still find myself drawn to blog. I think that there are those in the blogging world *cough Diane, Kristen, and Bonnie cough* who could learn by this. lol. Actually I suppose it really isn't that big of a deal. People have different philosophies I guess. My philosophy basically takes into consideration how I would feel. I mean I check people's blogs like 2-3 times a day to look for new posts and new comments. I find such joy in opening up a friends page and finding something new to read. Therefore I assume that everyone else will look at mine and wish to see something new. Am I wrong? This is why I blog daily about nothing--so that you will not have nothing to read...or something like that.

exciting just isn't the word

I don't really know why I am in a blogger fuzz. I mean, I don't know what to write about anymore. My life seems pretty dull to me.

Today I went to work for 4 hours. Surprisingly I actually had stuff to do the whole time. Stacie and I were getting letters ready to mail. First I had to mark off on the Receipt Log that all the letters were being sent and then I had to print off envelopes for all the letters. I didn't even finish that part. Stacie was folding the letters and stuffing the envelopes among other things. I bought more stamps online today because we are always short. Did you know that 800 stamps costs like $300! Craziness.

After work I came back to the dorm and did my homework. It was really exciting. It never takes me too long, but no matter the time I always feel like I have spent forever doing homework. I took a nap after my homework. Hurray for naps. After my nap I went to dinner with some Moyer peeps. It wasn't very good. I ended up having a hamburger. Oh well.

After dinner I finished up some computer homework that I always save for later. lol. It didn't take long. Now I am just killing time until Gilmore Girls starts. Isn't my life exciting.

Randomness

I have nothing to say. I hate when that happens....There was a drunk guy in the middle of the road on the way back from work. He annoyed me. I had to change lanes and everything. Drunk people should not walk in the middle of the road. Stupid Drunk people.

"Wheel of Morality turn, turn, turn. Tell us the lesson we should learn:"
Don't walk in the middle of the street if you become drunk.

back to the grindstone

I am here back at SPU after a short trip home. I went home to celebrate some b-days in my family. It was nice to be home again. Even though I was home the week before. At this point in the year I am really ready for school to be out so I can be at home again. Ugh. It isn't that I hate school, but I am tired of it. It is all taxing to me...

For all those who are curious and hadn't heard yet, I did not make it on to the next level of the PA interviewing process. It is okay though, I am not too disappointed. I wanted it, but at the same time knew that it would add lots of stress and stuff. So, it's all good. ;)

I know I should be more descriptive, but I really have nothing more to share. I feel better about myself now that I have blogged though. :)

My Life as a BS Paper Writer

I am blogging now for fear that I will fail to do so over the weekend. It always seems to happen that way. At least this way some of you will have a new post for Friday. :)

Today was a pretty busy day. I went to work and had a full 2 hours of work...followed by 2 hours of not so full work. There doesn't seem to be as much to do right now as a couple of months ago. Oh well, Stacie and I organized some drawers and cabinets. Joy.

After work I set to doing homework. It was a slow process at first especially with Jonathan e-mailing every 2 minutes. However, once I escaped the internet connection and went downstairs to work on my laptop in the study lounge things went much dinner. I got most of the paper done before dinner and then finished it up afterwards. I think I am happy with it. It is odd though because whenever I am writing a paper I just kinda let sentences flow and the whole time I am thinking "This is crap." However, when I go back and read it over I find that oddly it fits together kinda nicely. So then I think to myself "this is sorta good crap." lol. Papers are the worst. I half way enjoy them though because I am sick like that.

Tonight I have television and bible studies. Wowsers. :) I am really glad tomorrow is Friday. Another weekend! Hurray for that.

My life as a stressed out college student

Well this week is going by fast. It is already Wednesday, which is sorta stressing me out. I have a semi-big paper due on Friday and I haven't even started it yet. I haven't had time to! I am feeling slightly less stressed about it since I went to the library and got some infromation on the topic. I will however be spending most of my time tomorrow working on it. I think I will do some of my other homework today so that I will not feel as stressed out.

Have I mentioned the fact that I would really like to be out of school. I want Spring Break to be tomorrow. That would be nice.....

Life is Annoying

Greetings from Seattle. :)
I am back up here at Spu. I had a good weekend at home. It was nice to be home. Obviously though, I don't use the computer much at home. hee hee

Okay, so for all of you who are wondering, I did have my PA interview on Friday. I think it went pretty well, but I don't feel like I aced it or anything. However, my PA says that that this is a good sign. lol. She was saying that those who felt like they nailed the interview didn't acutally get the position last year. Oddly enough. So, whatever that may mean....I find out this Friday if I go to the next level which would be the group interview. We shall see how everything goes. I really want the position, but at the same time I could live without it. :) So, yeah...

So, here I am at work with nothing to do. Claudia is out of the office for the week so it should be pretty slow for me all week (not that it isn't usually slow for me). Oh well....

I have so much to do once I get off work. I have to do my homework and an extra credit exercising thing for biology as well as hopefully make a quick run to Fred Meyers. I am not sure that the Fred Meyers thing will happen though, it depends on hwo quickly I get everything else done.

So, only a few more weeks in the quarter. I can hardly wait for Spring break. It will be really nice. Plus I am ready to change classes...not that I will like next quarters classes more than this quarters...but on well.

Anyway, guess I should go find something else to do....

What can I say....

So, I had my appointment to plan my classes for next quarter today. My schedule is pretty spread out. See below:

Christian Theology 9:30-10:50 MWF
A Business Marketing Class (not sure the specific name) 11:00-12:20 MWF
Math Lab 1 credit Arranged (meaning I take it at my own pace)
Spanish Every other Saturday from 9:00-3:00

And then if I get PA I will have a class on Thursday from 3ish-5ish.
I will be taking 16 credits total and if I get the PA position I will be taking 18 credits or sometihng like that. :)

So, my schedule is pretty spread out and bizarre. It should be good though. :)
I think that is all for now. I am still a bit groggy from my nap and don't feel like typing more. Besides I am off to JonTon's in 15 minutes!

I think my shoes are trying to kill me

I find it annoying that my shoelaces seem to come undone about 3-5 times a day. They really don't want to be all tied up. However, this concerns me because I just know that one of these times I am going to trip and die. Stupid shoe laces.

Today was my work free day. It was highly enjoyable. I was able to get out of my Christian Scriptures class early because of the test. It only took me like 30 minutes to finish. I feel pretty good about it. I guess I will have to wait for the results though.

A lot of people from my floor are going out to eat for a girls birthday, but I have a class, so I couldn't go. It would have been nice to go, but this way I don't have to spend money. :) Plus, I really like the class (it is my Bible Study on David) so it's okay.

I have an appointment with my Faculty Advisor tomorrow to schedule my classes for next quarter. I really don't know what I am taking. We had talked about a few classes last quarter so I think I will probably do those. However, I have to leave time in my schedule in case I end up getting the PA position because there is a class I have to take for that. And I might take another Bible Study depending on if it all works out with my schedule. There is also the possibility of me taking a math lab, but I am not sure. I'll let you know what I figure out tomorrow. :)

I am listening to my new cd that Mom sent up with my Valentine's Day package. It is a Christian group called "FM Static." They are pretty cool. I really like the cd. It makes me happy. :)...Speaking of happy, Alias is on tonight!! Hurray! I am not sure that it will be as good as last weeks though because that one was freakin amazing! :)

Anyway, I guess I should get ready for my class. ttfn ~Laura

dull day

What an amazingly dull day. I went to work and had basically nothing to do. Tuesday is the day that almost all the work study students are in the office, and it results in people having very little to do because everyone else is doing it. lol

So, after my work I came back and did homework. I have a 'midterm' in my Christian Scriptures class. It is the second midterm in that class of the quarter and I did really well on the last one, so I didn't really study for this one. hee hee. We shall see how it goes. But I am not that worried.

Anyway, I guess I will talk to you later.

Single Awareness Day Sucks

I want to have sex...
but first I want to be married...
before that I want to be kissed...
before that I want to hold hands...
before that I want to have a boyfriend...
but that would require being friends with a boy...
so basically for starters, I want to have an decient conversation with a person of the opposite sex...

I'll be glad when today is over...

Keggar

Yesterday was a pretty good day. It started out with my classes which were pretty dull, but not so bad. The worst one is always Christian Scriptures. I basically drift in and out of sleep in this class. I am pretty sure I am not learning anything (but based on my last test score I apparently can BS my way through it...hurray for growing up in a Christian school! lol). Wall has got to be one of the dullest people I have ever met. So, anyway after I got out of that class (5 minutes after I should have because Wall can't seem to comprehend that we have other classes and that we have to walk a good 5-7 minutes to get to our next class because Bertona is so freakin far away!)...where was I....oh yes, so then I went to my communications class. This class usually isn't that dull but the information is pretty basic so without the random stuff that we do I might fall asleep. Usually he puts in clips from movies (he also teaches film classes) to make his points, which is always enjoyable. However, they are all the most obscure movies. He hasn't shown one yet that I have really heard of or seen. That's cool though I guess. So, then it is my break for lunch. After my typical sandwich I head to Biology. Yesterday's class was really nice because it lasted a whole 10 minutes. We got our tests back and then we went over them. It was a good class; I think my favorite Biology class so far (although the one where he was showing us the difference between a gallop and skipping was pretty entertaining as well). I ended up getting an 'A' on my bio midterm. Mainly because I know how to pick the easiest test givers in the science department. :) All the questions were basically from previous quizzes. So..yeah.

So, after my short bio class I came back to my dorm and took a nap before work. I love naps. Have I mentioned that the only thing I don't like about naps is waking up?...So, I worked for a whole 2 hours before coming back to my dorm. For the past few weeks I have been going to JonTon's after work on Friday, but they had other plans yesterday. So, it was kinda nice to be at the dorm on a Friday.

Yesterday 6th Hill Guys had a Root Beer Keggar. It was pretty fun I guess. It wasn't exactly where you would expect to find me but it was fun. I proved to myself once again that I can't really dance. However, I think I blended in well enough not to have made a fool out of myself. lol. It was pretty cool though, they had a DJ, and a band at times. The band was basically people from 6th Hill playing really random songs...usually ones that were originally done by females. For Example they played "Geni in a Bottle" and "Ironic"...but they also did some other songs too that made more since for them to be singing...i guess. lol.

Apparently JonTon stopped by on the way back from their thing, but wasn't able to get me out of the Keggar. That's too bad...It probably would have been a good excuse for me to leave....not that I really needed one, because I was having a good time...but it wasn't entirely my cup of tea. lol.

Anyway, so today is Saturday. It should be a pretty relaxed day. I don't think I will work on any homework until tomorrow. :) Tonight is the Emerson Film Fest. All the floors in Emerson have prepared a short film and then we all watch them and a winner is decided and such. It should be good. I am going because it will be fun, and to support my Emerson peeps. lol. Go 4 East!

Yeah, so I think that is all I have to say. Nice blogging for ya. ttfn.

"I do, but I don't"

Not only is this a good country song, but it fits my post fairly well today.

I can't believe that tomorrow is Friday. The weeks are going by so fast. It is hard to comprehend that the quarter is half way over. I am enjoying these two facts, but it is hard to take in. lol. It seems weird to me that I haven't been home at all this quarter. Last quarter I was home almost every weekend. I am not one to become homesick though. I don't know, whenever I am away from my family it isn't like I miss them terribly...does that make me a bad person? Perhaps that is just healthy, I don't know. Having JonTon nearby has probably helped as well. And my family did just come up last weekend. I don't really miss home though...not completely anyway I miss doing certain things though. Like I miss seeing movies. I haven't gone out to the see a movie in the theatre since Christmas day. It is so sad. If I were still living in Longview I would go to the theatre like every weekend (or at least every weekend there was a good movie showing). I also miss hanging out with my friends cause I seem more disconnected from them this quarter than last.

I am not sure why I am blogging about this other than the fact that Bonnie blogged about missing her peeps and it got me thinking about mine. So basically I miss you all, but then again I don't. lol. I think it is just me being me. I am not one to be all caught up in emotions and start thinking about home. Sounds kinda mean or cold hearted or something...but its not. :) Anyway, I don't even know what I am saying anymore so I am gonna say goodbye.

Hope to see you all soon.

2 naps in one day!

Today was a pretty low stress day despite the looming Biology midterm. I went to my 9:30 class (Christian Scriptures) but then had a break from 11:00-12:30 because my Communications class was canceled for today. So, I took a nap from 11:00-11:45. It was nice. I heart sleep. Then I went to lunch and came back and studied for Biology a bit more. Then at 1:30 I went to Biology and took the test. It actually seemed pretty easy. Most of the questions came from previous quizzes that I had studied, so that was nice. I will find out on Friday how I did. So, I came out of Biology like an hour earlier than normal and came back and hung around for a bit. I then decided to lay on my bed an read, but I eventually put down the book and fell asleep again. :) It was again really nice. Usually I don't get to take naps because my days are so busy. I generally get to take one nap on Wednesday though because it is my slower day. I am not sure what these two naps will do to my sleeping habits tonight, but right now I don't care. :)

Later tonight I have my Bible study and then it is Alias!! Hurray! The day will end with a Raid! We are raiding 3rd Moyer and going to Krispy Kreme's. It should be fun. The not so fun part will be tomorrow when I have to get up at 7:00 in the morning and go to work. But Thursday is almost the end of the week, so that makes me happy.

For all those who are curious I found out when my PA interview will be. It is during President's Day weekend: Saturday, February 19 @ 9:00 a.m. So, you can think of me then. ;) I haven't decided for sure if I am going home that weekend after my interview. It depends on a few things. This quarter is going by really fast. It seems odd to me that we are more than half through with it. Yikes! Spring Break is so close, and yet so far.

Looking forward to seeing you all soon
~Laura

I'm pretty sure this is the end

So, I have a mid-term in my bio class on Wednesday. I am pretty sure it isn't going to go well. I studied a little yesterday and a little today, and I have some time tomorrow to study before I take it...But still. I am not confident in this class. I know what you are thinking, "She wasn't confident in Chemistry either and she got an 'A' in that class..." However, I do not think that you can compare the two. So far I am not doing horrible in the class, but it does have the potential. Ugh.

Anyway, on to brighter topics...what can I inform you of today? On Monday in my communications class we had a rather interesting discussion on curse words. We read an article from Newsweek talking about how curse words don't seem to be as big of a deal anymore. I really found the whole thing rather intriguing. I personally only have a problem with certain curse words, well maybe just one. However, I don't really use curse words unless I feel the moment is in need of one...or a few. :) I find it interesting because who ever decided that those would be the curse words anyway? It is all subjective. I usually find myself watching British movies and liking their curse words. I like them so much that I often wish I could put them into use. They just sound so much more fun than ours. Also, on the subject of curse words and movies has anybody seen the movie 'Saved'? It isn't really a movie I would truly recommend, but there is a really powerful scene were the main character is so mad at God that she stands in front of a church and screams every curse word she can think of. It is sorta an odd scene, but I think it holds a lot of power to it, and I don't know, I think it is my favorite scene of the movie. Odd I know.

(I have now progressed to rambling, but I shall continue it for a few more minutes...) Speaking of powerful scenes I always think of 'Mona Lisa Smile.' Although I don't really like this movie (although the more I watch it the more I like it), I really like one scene. It is the scene where Kirsten Dunst freaks out and gets mad at Maggie Gyllenhaal's character...only we see that she really is mad at her husband and herself. It really reveals a lot about her character and is a turning point. I almost would buy the movie just for that one scene.

Anyway, obviously all this studying has gotten to me....

"This is not happiness to see me"

I would just like to openly post my annoyance at all those who are going to California over Spring Break. You guys all suck. (Even though only one of you reads my blog)

That is all.

Funness

So, The Daily News has published an article about blogs! And the best part is that my Aunt is quoted. I would just like to take a moment to be thanked, for without me she would not have discovered blogs. lol. (that was sorta conceited)...Anyway, so if you wish to check out the article please click the link below! Aunt Linda's comment is at the bottom. :) Hurray for Aunt Linda!

What a day...

Lets see where did I leave off? On Friday I went to classes, and work, and then on to my brother's. My parents and sis were there, so that was a nice change. I did my laundry and we all hang out until about 11:30. Then Teresa came back to SPU with me to hang out on Saturday while JonTon and Mom/Dad went to eagle watch.

So, Today Teresa and I didn't really do anything. We watched 3 movies and hung ate lunch with Michelle. It was nice to have my sis up and to just hang out. Even though we didn't do much I had fun. lol. We met back up with the rest of the family at about 7ish. We were meeting at the Southcenter Mall, so Teresa and I went a little early and shopped around a bit. I got a new pair of pants (which was needed since I got a whole in one of my other ones). Then we all ate dinner together at The Olive Garden. Hurray! I even have leftovers for tomorrow's dinner. I know you are all jealous now. :)

Tomorrow I have to do homework since I didn't do any of it today. Ugh. Tonia is coming over to hang out with me tomorrow afternoon because Jonathan is attending a Super Bowl party. Tonia and I don't care about the Super Bowl so we are gonna hang. It should be good.

Yeah, so that is all I guess. It has been a good weekend.

Thursday = almost done

I don't really want to talk about today cause it wasn't really that great. So instead I will talk about last night. So, because Alias was not on I was able to attend group. I know this sounds like unspiritual, but it isn't like I miss out on all Christian activities because of TV...just this one. So, anyway, I really like group and it makes me sad that Alias interferes with it. But I got to go last night and it was really good. The worship was really good and I really enjoyed the whole thing. The speaker was Marilyn Meberg. She speaks for the Women of Faith conference. She is really good. I really like all the people from the Women of Faith conference. :) She is SPU's Alumni of the year this year too. So, she spoke and it was short but good, and of course funny because that is just the way Women of Faith is. I would have liked to say hi to her after group, but she skipped out once she was done speaking. Oh well. Anyway, it was good....

Awesome Song....

Be Thou my Vision, O Lord of my heart;
Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art
Thou my best Thought, by day or by night,
Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light.

Be Thou my Wisdom, and Thou my true Word;
I ever with Thee and Thou with me, Lord;
Thou my great Father, I Thy true son;
Thou in me dwelling, and I with Thee one.

Be Thou my battle Shield, Sword for the fight;
Be Thou my Dignity, Thou my Delight;
Thou my soul’s Shelter, Thou my high Tower:
Raise Thou me heavenward, O Power of my power.

Riches I heed not, nor man’s empty praise,
Thou mine Inheritance, now and always:
Thou and Thou only, first in my heart,
High King of heaven, my Treasure Thou art.

High King of heaven, my victory won,
May I reach heaven’s joys, O bright Heaven’s Sun!
Heart of my own heart, whatever befall,
Still be my Vision, O Ruler of all.

Wednesday-- the fullest day of the week

I like Wednesdays even though they are pretty full. I attended all of my classes today like the good student that I am. Christian Scriptures was boring again. I think he likes the sound of his own voice. He never stops talking and seriously usually goes like a few minutes over class time. It is really annoying. In Communications my group presented today. It went pretty well, I am glad that it is over. We have our midterm in that class on Friday, but I am not all that concerned. I studied a bit today with Sandra and will study some more tomorrow. I actually stayed awake during my Biology class today. It was pretty dull though. I don't like that class. There is too much that I could possibly need to know, but I am not sure which parts are necessary to pay attention to. lol.

I was able to take a nap today. I just took a short one though, but it was still nice. Dinner was tolerable. It hasn't been nearly as good this quarter as compared to last quarter. I have heard that they got a new chef. I don't think I like him as well. Oh well. I am not starving so that's good...

I can hardly believe that it is Wednesday. The week always goes by so fast. Part of me wants it to slow down, but I think the majority of me wants it to speed up. I really like the weekends. They are kinda dull though. I am excited that Teresa is coming up. We probably won't do much, but it will be fun anyway. :)

Anyway, I have my Bible Study on David in a half an hour so I should probably get ready for that. :) Hope your day went well.

Um...I might agree with Megan, except I like the person I got. :)

Which O.C. Character Are You? Find out @ She's Crafty

Tuesdays...ugh

I don't really like Tuesdays. You see while I don't have classes the days are still long. I work from 8:30-12:30 then I have to come back and do homework. I usually don't get started on that until about 2ish. I then work on it until dinner. After dinner I finish it up. Then I hang out until 8:00 when I start watching television. lol Life is rough sometimes.

Today went a little different though. I went to work like normal but after work and lunch I just hung out until my group presentation meeting. It was from 2-3ish this afternoon. It went pretty well. We give our short little presentation tomorrow. It should go pretty well, but I will just be glad to have it over with.

Then I came back and at about 3:15 I took some girls to the bank cause I am nice like that. When we got back I started my homework. It didn't seem to take me as long as normal, but I still had to work on it after dinner. I am all done now...well I am at least done with everything that I have to have done. I should do some other stuff, but I am too lazy. I am so bad about that.

Yeah, so I guess that is all.

Mondays aren't cool

Another week begins. Sad really. I wish that I didn't have to go to classes and stuff. I keep having the dream of laying around doing nothing but watching television. But I mentioned that yesterday, so I will move on.

Today was rather dull. I attended my 3 classes. I was pretty much asleep in Christian Scriptures (well not really but definitely drifting). It is so dull. And sadly enough I just don't care about what he is talking about. Is that bad? Communications wasn't much better. I didn't fall asleep, but it was pretty boring. Usually it is interesting, but not today. Sad. Then I ate lunch and got ready for work. I had to attend my 1:30 class first though, Biology. Ugh. I still don't like this class. I am currently getting a B in it and hope to do better. I am gonna do some extra credit which should help. I guess I just need to work harder though. I have been sorta though.

So, after Bio I went to work. I just worked for 2 hours today. There was a lot to do though. I prepared the bank deposit which requires me to go through all the checks we received recently and enter them into excel and them stamp them and then make copies of them. Exciting stuff. I also was on hold for like 15 minutes. Yeah, so work was work I guess. Jonathan didn't e-mail me like at all today. It was sad. He has been slacking recently.

So after work I have just been hanging out. Normally I have bible study, but we moved it to later in the week for this week. So, that was cool I guess. I am currently watching a couple of episodes of Alias before bed. I probably should be doing homework, but I don't want to. I will do it tomorrow and get stressed. It will be fun....or not. lol. Anyway, I think that is all I have to say. I am looking forward to this weekend when Teresa comes up to hang out with me. :) Funness. Yeah, so bye.

Another weekend fades away

Today was a pretty lazy day. I actually went to morning church instead of the evening service because the evening service was gonna be at someplace else. I carpooled with JonTon. After church I did finished up my homework and attended a group meeting for my communications class. It was pretty lame. We have to give a short presentation on Wednesday. I don't like group projects...this one shouldn't be that bad though. We shall see.

I was able to take a nap today and watch some television/movies. Good times. It was great. I wish that I could just lounge around in my pjs doing nothing but watching television and movies. That would be my perfect day. :) I hope to do it someday soon...but it might have to wait until spring break. Sad I know.

Anyway, I think that is all for now. Not too detailed but it will work. At least I post unlike some people I know. However, they have been doing better so I guess I will not pick on them too much. :) Yeah, so ttfn.

Saturday, January 29, 2005

um...yeah.

So, that was quite the response to my last blog. I kinda think that it is partially because I left it up for like a day longer than I normally would have. Fridays are usually pretty busy for me though. I attended all of my classes which were all pretty dull. I got my test back in Christian Scriptures and got an 'A-' so that is good. I still don't hate him. I think that the reason I don't mind him is because I don't really pay attention to what he is saying. Most of the people who hate him, hate him because of his crazy opinions and such. However, I just ignore him and it seems to work a lot better. lol.

After classes I went to work. It was rather dull. I only work for 2 hours on Monday and Friday so it isn't so bad. It goes by fairly quick. I left directly from work to visit JonTon again. We were able to finish Firefly. Which is very exciting. It doesn't end like a series should since it got canceled and all, but it isn't a horrible ending. I am glad that they are putting out a movie though. It should wrap things up...I hope.

I slept in until noon this morning. I hadn't planned to sleep in that long, but I guess that is what you get when you don't set an alarm. :) Oh well, it was kinda nice. I should go do homework now though. I just want to relax...Perhaps after homework I will stick in a movie and just hang around. :) ttfn. ~Laura

More than you wanted to know...

I have been informed by my roommate that I do not put enough detail into my blogs. So, in case she is right here is more than you wanted to know about my day.

Today I got up at 7:00 a.m. in order to go to work. I took a shower at a time when no one else was even in the bathroom. I had my pick of the showers but took the 2nd best one because when I take the best one I always feel more pressure to get out quicker because someone is always waiting for it. I had forgotten once again to replace my soap that had run out a couple of days ago so I once again substituted my body wash. lol. I just need to get the soap out of my drawer and move it to the bathroom, but I keep forgetting.

So, after my shower I finished getting ready and I went to breakfast. There I met Valerie, a fellow Agros worker who has taken to carpooling with me on Tuesdays and Thursday so she doesn't have to take the bus. She still takes the bus back though because I leave a lot earlier than she does. At about 8:15 we made our way to the car and were on our way to work. We got stuck behind some slow cars which made us like 2 minutes late to work. No biggie though.

Work was pretty tedious today. I was doing a big mail merge that involved entering data and junk. It was pretty annoying though because the database program that held all the names/addresses kept being stupid. Finally it began to run smoothly though. I did that for most of my 4 hours finishing off with a trip to the bank. Good times.

Once I got back to SPU I checked my oil. This is something I have been negligent on for the past couple of weeks. Bad Laura. However, the car was fine and I added another quart to Jimmy. I think he is happier now. We shall see. I then came inside and changed for lunch. On my way to lunch Bonnie attacked me. One would think that I would be used to this by now, but alas I am not. Anyway, so we ate lunch together. I got a turkey sandwich like I always do. I really like the sandwiches at Gwinn. Today I could not really decide if I wanted a whole sandwich or a half of one. But I went with a whole and ate basically all of it. They are pretty big sandwiches too. I feel sorta bad when I eat a whole one, like maybe I am eating too much or something. I got a pop today instead of my normal lemonade. I ran into Lars (a guy in one of my classes last quarter who we tried to get as a roomies date but it didn't work out) at the pop machine. We spoke briefly.

After lunch I came back to my room and worked on homework. Tuesdays and Thursdays are homework days. I did homework for Biology (I actually read the chapter, go me!), Christian Scriptures (yawn), and Communications. It was rather dull work but it had to be done. I then worked on my PA application. It is almost done. I just need to finish up the essay and then type up the whole thing into the actual application. I was trying to find some good Bible verses for my essay but so far I am unsuccessful. I called Mom but she did not answer. I wonder where she was. I will probably try again pretty soon here.

In about an hour I am leaving to visit JonTon. Well, actually I am attending a going away party for Joy at JonTon's house. It is a surprise. :) I am taking Natalie so I have to pick her up from her apartment. Company should be nice, although I don't know what we will talk about. Oh well, it is only a half an hour. So, that should be fun.

I am passing up 'good' television to go and hang out at the party. And yet I don't feel upset about this. I think something may be wrong with me. lol. Oh well they are kinda garbage shows anyway, no offense to you die hard O.C. or E.R. fans. :) I like the shows too...Like I said something might be wrong with me. It could be that I am the slightest big ill and possibly not thinking clearly. I don't have a sore throat anymore, but i definitely have a hint of congestion. It seems to be passing fairly quickly though. Hopefully it continues to depart from me.

Anyway, I think I have exhausted not only myself but all of you. So, I will bid you farewell. I hope you enjoyed my very detailed blog post. I cannot promise they will all be like this in the future, but perhaps that is a good thing.

A quick post before class

So, I have my Bible Study class in like 15 minutes but I thought I would update my blog. I took my Christian Scriptures test today and I am not sure how I did on it. I might know by Friday though. I also turned in my paper today, so I don't really have anything else to worry about this week...Except finishing my PA application. Which I need to do cause it is due on Monday. I am almost done though.

I am wondering if I am getting sick. One would think I would be able to tell but sometimes I have sore throats and then the next day I am fine. I am hoping this is one of those things. Everyone around me has been sick so it is my turn, but I would rather pass. Anyway, it isn't bad yet.

Anyway, I should get ready for class. Fun, fun. After class I get to watch Alias though, so that is cool. So, ttfn. ~Laura

And life continues...

Okay, so I am feeling less stressed. I have finished my paper and I think I am done studying for my Christian Scriptures class. I don't really know how well I studied, but I don't know what else to do, so hopefully it will all work out. Having taken Bible Classes all my life one would think I would be able to guess my way through it if nothing else. Hopefully I won't have to though. Anyway, ask me tomorrow if I still like Wall (the evil professor everyone hates, but I still only find boring...like every other professor in the world).

Definately want to craw in a hole and hide...

I have a lot going on this week. I am feeling sorta overwhelmed. Most of it is happening on Wednesday though, so if I can get past then I should be fine.

Help me...

The Omen

Sorry I haven't blogged in a couple of days. On Friday I went to classes and then went to work and then went to JonTon's. We are almost done watching the Firefly. We only have like 2 more episodes. It is a good show.

Saturday I did a lot of homework and then I just hung out. We were supposed to Golden Gardens as a dorm and have a bon fire, but it got canceled because of the 'weather'. If we believe that story. (I think that the hall council members just weren't that prepared for it.) :) Oh well. So instead I took a group of girls to Taco Bell (Pizza Hut, Taco Hut, Pizza Bell..whatever) and then to Blockbuster. We rented 'The Omen.' Which we thought would be scary. However it was made in the 70's and it was really just quite funny. I enjoyed it, but some people were disappointed that it wasn't scary. However, I had good time. :)

Today I have to finish homework. Oh fun. Tomorrow starts another week....

Thursday, January 20, 2005

Um...yeah

So today is Thursday. It feels weird for it to be Thursday already. It is nice though. I am glad that tomorrow is Friday. I am going over to JonTon's tomorrow night to watch more of Firefly. I am looking forward to that.

I didn't really do much today. I went to work, and then I did homework. That about sums it up. Life is pretty exciting. lol. Tonight I have 2 television shows and a Bible Study, so that is kinda exciting. :)

For all of you who have not heard yet, I am applying to be a Peer Advisor for next year. So, I have been working on the application for that today. It is quite the extensive process. Including a 19 page application (not all of that is stuff I have to fill out though) and an initial interview followed by a group interview (if you get that far). Then if you get it you have to sign up for a class and take the class Spring Quarter and then in Fall also. And you have to come to school early and such. But I think it would be a good thing for me. :) Anyway, so you guys can be praying about that.

Anyway, I guess I should 'study' my biology terms. Fun, fun...

I'm one of those people!!!

So, I think something in me has finally snapped. I have become one of those people! What kind of people you ask? Well...

I have become one of those people who forgets they have class.
I was talking to Sandra and we were discussing going to visit the airport for a people observation assignment for our Communications class, until I remembered that I had a class that I needed to go to. What kind of person just forgets they have class? lol. Anyway, so instead of going to the airport (which I probably won't do by myself) I went to my annoying biology class and had 'fun' watching Kristi fall asleep. Oh the joys of Biology.

Now one would think that this would be a bad enough person to become but I am not done.

So, last night I was watching the movie Troy. Now, granted I missed the first 30 minutes, but I found myself more confused than I felt I should be. I think the initial confusion was that I had assumed that Troy was a name of a person as opposed to the name of a town. Which really didn't help things. But after I figured that out I was still sorta confused. I really had no idea who to be cheering on. I mean, which side is the good side? The people of Troy or the Greeks? Who should be the winner? Of course we all know that we want to see Brad Pitt win at everything, but on the other hand the Troyians...er...people of Troy seemed to be overall a better people to have win. Because who really wanted to see the Greek king win! I mean he was just evil. So...I am watching this movie and I am still slightly confused although as I get into the movie further I begin to understand what is going on. So, it comes to a battle scene and I find myself wondering which side is which. We have what appears to be people with rectangle shields fighting people with round shields...Does this have symbolism I wonder?

Anyway, I say all that to say that I have become one of those people who just doesn't understand war movies....or something. I kinda think I missed the point. Perhaps if I watched it again it would be different. But I don't really see that happening any time soon.

Yeah, so...this is just another one of those people signing off...

Good Song!

Blessed Be Your Name
by Matt Redman
- - -
Blessed Be Your Name
In the land that is plentiful
Where Your streams of abundance flow
Blessed be Your name

Blessed Be Your name
When I'm found in the desert place
Though I walk through the wilderness
Blessed Be Your name

Every blessing You pour out
I'll turn back to praise
When the darkness closes in, Lord
Still I will say

Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your glorious name

Blessed be Your name
When the sun's shining down on me
When the world's 'all as it should be'
Blessed be Your name

Blessed be Your name
On the road marked with suffering
Though there's pain in the offering
Blessed be Your name

Every blessing You pour out
I'll turn back to praise
When the darkness closes in, Lord
Still I will say

Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your glorious name

Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your glorious name

You give and take away
You give and take away
My heart will choose to say
Lord, blessed be Your name

Tomorrow is a Friday of a long weekend!!!

Today was a pretty monotonous day. I got up and went to work. Then I came back and did homework until dinner. I did finally apply for my Business Administration minor. Hurray for me! I have only been putting that off since I signed up for classes last quarter. But it is finally done. Which makes me happy.

This evening I have quite the schedule. I am attending a meeting at 7:00 regarding being a Peer Advisor for next year. I am not totally sure I want to do it, but the more I think about it the more I like the idea. But I am not sure. I want to go to the meeting however, to keep my options open and such.

Then at 8:00 there is 'The O.C.' and at 9:00 is the floor Bible study. And at 10:00 is E.R. So, as you can see I have quite the night. I am currently avoiding studying for my biology terminology quiz tomorrow. I did study for a little bit, but I do not really feel motivated. It is only worth a few amount of points and the worst grade (possibly worst 2 grades, I am not sure) is dropped. So...yeah. I am a bad person.

Anyway, I suppose I should get back to pretending like I am studying. Just thought I would delay it a little longer. hee hee. See some of you guys tomorrow. ~Laura

A real post...

Okay, so I am posting a real post today. Let me attempt to fill you in on my life...

My Christian Scriptures class with the dreaded teacher is so far going okay. I haven't felt overwhelmed yet, which is good. I am taking the class as a 3001 level as opposed to some of the other people in the class who are taking it at the 2000 level. So, I have to do another assignment. I have to read this book and write a 300 word essay on it. I can't believe that I bought this book just to write 300 words...That is ridiculous. I know one person in this class, but we aren't in the same homework group, so we don't get much time to chat. I really don't care about this class though. I feel like I should care, but at the same time I just really don't care whether or not God created the formless void or if the void was already there in Genesis 1:1-2. I'm really not sure it matters...

My Intro to interpersonal communications class is really interesting. I am really enjoying this class. The teacher is a tad on the odd side, but he is really good. Unlike so many college classes, I feel this is a class I can actually apply to my life. Which is a nice change. My SMC is in this class with me and after class we walk over to Gwinn and have lunch, so that is nice.

My Biology class is quite dull. One of the girls on my floor is in that class, and sometimes we walk over together and sit by eachother. I am still not quite sure how hard I will have to work in this class to get a good grade. I am hoping I will not really have to spend all that much time on it...but we shall see. Another class I really don't care about.

My Bible study on David is really interesting. I have only had 1 class, but the teacher is really good. I have another class tonight, so that should be good. We have read 3 chapters in the book and I wrote my 2 mini essays, which wasn't hard. I think I will continue to enjoy this class.

I am really excited for Alias tonight. I enjoy that show a lot, a lot. lol. Anyway, I don't really think I have a whole lot else to say. I am coming home this extended weekend, so that will be fun. :) So...yeah, I am gonna go do something unproductive...either read or watch an episode of Alias on my computers new dvd player...fun....

Another song I enjoy...

"Baby Girl"

They say this town the stars stay up all night,
well I don't know, can't see em,
through glow of the neon lights
well its a long way from here,
to the place where the home fires burn,
well its two thousand miles and one left turn...

[Chorus:]
Dear Mom and Dad please send money,
I'm so broke that it ain't funny,
well I dont need much just enough to get me through,
please dont worry cause I'm alright,
see I'm playing here at the bar tonight
well in this town I'm going to make our dreams come true.
well I love you more than anything in the world,
Love your baby girl

black top, blue skies big town full of little white lies,
everybodys your friend, you can never be sure,
they'll promise fancy cars and diamond rings and all sorts of shiny things,
but girl you'll remember what your knees are for

[Chorus:]
Dear Mom and Dad please send money,
I'm so broke that it ain't funny,
well I dont need much just enough to get me through,
please dont worry cause I'm alright,
see I'm playing here at the bar tonight
well in this town I'm going to make our dreams come true.
well I love you more than anything in the world,
love your baby girl

I know that I'm on my way,
I can tell everytime I play,
I'll know that it's worth all the dues I payed when I can write to you and say:

Dear Mom and Dad I'll send money
I'm so rich that it ain't funny
well it ought to be more than enough to get you through
please dont worry becasue I'm alright
see I'm staying here at the Ritz tonight
what do ya know it made our dreams come true
and there are fancy cars and diamond rings
but you know that they dont mean a thing
cause they all add up to nothing compared to you,
well remember me in ribbons and curls,
I still love you more than anything in the world,
Love your baby girl

Your baby girl
(Dear Mom and Dad please send money,
I'm so broke that it ain't funny,
well I dont need much just enough to get me through)
Your baby girl
(please dont worry cause I'm alright,
see I'm playing here at the bar tonight
-dreams come true.)

First Weekend Back

Well it is the first weekend back at SPU. I spent yesterday evening at JonTon's. It was nice to meet Holly and hang out. Tonia's family was there too. Today Aunt Linda is coming up to visit me. I am not completely sure what we are gonna do, but it should be fun. We are gonna go out to eat somewhere, I am thinking of taking her to the spaghetti Factory, cause that is where I take everyone who comes to see me. lol. That is where my friends and I always eat when they come up, and Deborah and I ate there when she visited. It is a pretty cool place. After that we will probably tour the campus or Seattle and hang out. Good times. I will let you know what we actually did later.

It is weird to be back up here on a weekend. I am putting off my homework until tomorrow I think. I did do a little bit of it earlier today though. I read some of my Bible Study book on David. Anyway, I guess I should go. ttfn. ~Laura

So not motivated....

Well another day has gone by. I have accomplished basically all that need to although I am sure if I was being truly the most responsible person ever I would still be studying. Oh well.

It is said that it might snow tomorrow...but not until the evening. I am not sure if it will though. I heard that Longview/Kelso got snow today for a bit and I am really jealous. Boo!

I watched Alias last night and it was truly amazing! It should be a good season. :)

Also, I can now fill you in on my bible study class. I thought it would be a fairly small class, but obviously I was mistaken. I guess it usually has about 40 people in it but somehow this quarters has like 90 people! One would think that with all those people I would know someone, but I didn't really see anyone I know. The professor is really cool though and I am looking forward to it. It should be relatively easy to as long as I can fit in the reading. We have to read 3 chapters a week and write a really short (1 page double spaced) paper if we want to get a B and write 2 short papers if we want an A. So I think that should be doable. :)

So, I am sitting here now kinda bored. I just got done watching The O.C. It was a good episode. I seem to have lost my roommate again though. That is always happening to me. I am always like "Where is Bonnie?" or "Has anybody seen my roommate?" Although I must admit that I never look anywhere other than my room...and like across the hall. lol. I might watch a few episodes of Gilmore Girls season 1 before I go to bed because the PA is borrowing them and watching them regularly. Fun, fun.

Anyway, I am gonna stop blogging now because it has come to the point where I am talking about stuff that no one really cares about. So, ttfn. ~Laura

The day that never ends....

Today is my busiest day of my week. I have all 4 of my classes spread throughout today. Here is an overview of my day and what I think of the classes so far...

9:30 - U-Found (UFND) with Wall. I think I will hate this class. You see Wall is probably one of the most despised teachers here at SPU. Every time I mention I have UFND with him everyone is like, "oh...I'm sorry." It is really not that encouraging. Plus I find out that Jonathan like dropped out of his class or something. Grr. He seemed okay today, but every professor seems okay on the first day. It sounds like the class will have a lot of work. However, I do feel like I will probably learn a lot. How annoying....I do like the fact that I will once again have a Bible class in my schedule though. I kinda missed it. I mean I haven't had a Bible class since I left Cornerstone...And I like having them. Anyway, I am praying that everything works out in this class....But I think it would take a miracle.

11:00 - Intro to Interpersonal Communications (COM 1101). This class seems like it will be alright. A person from my floor is in the class with me, so that is nice. She is the Student Ministry Coordinator (SMC). The teacher seems pretty cool and the text books sound kinda fun. So, we shall see how that goes.

Lunch

1:30 - Biology 1100. I know about 4 people in this class. It is a pretty big class and the waiting list is kinda extensive from what I understand. I don't expect to have too much problem with this class, but it will require a lot of memorization which could be tough...And annoying. I am not expecting to really enjoy this class.

Nothing from 3:00-6:00

Dinner

6:30 - Theology 3001. This is a 2 credit Bible study. This quarter is on David. I think I am looking forward to this class. I think it should be fairly enjoyable. However, since it is considered upper division I am not sure what to expect. And since I haven't had it yet today I can tell you nothing about how it truly looks. I'll let you know.

The Bible study gets over at 8:10. After this I have to get ready to watch Alias. Tonight is the 2 hour premier of Alias. I am really looking forward to it. I am gonna watch it across the hall with Ann, the Peer Advisor (PA). :) hee hee. So that goes on from 9:00-11:00. Then I guess I will hang out until I go to bed. Tomorrow I have to get up at 7 so I can be at work by 8:30. Joy.

Isn't my life fun....

I'm back!

Hello again. Here I am back in Seattle. It is kinda nice to be back. Although I enjoyed my break. I worked four hours today, which wasn't as bad as I thought it might be. I don't like work. :) I didn't have any classes today, but I start tomorrow with my busiest day of the week. Wednesdays are almost non-stop for me. Plus tomorrow Alias starts so that is exciting! Yeah!

Anyway, I have lots to do. Now that I am back at SPU I will be able to get back into blogging on a regular basis....Hopefully. lol. ttfn. ~Laura
